Mr. Adrian McAfee

Mr. Adrian Andrea McAfee was called home on June 8, 2018 after a brief illness at the age of 57 years. He was born March 28, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to Mr. Alfonso McAfee, Sr. and Geneva E. McAfee. McAfee was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing chess and watching his hometown teams, the Detroit Pistons, Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings play. He always said, “Isiah Thomas was the greatest basketball player of all time.” Adrian is a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1979. He attended Michigan State University majoring in Construction Estimating. Adrian McAfee possessed a great memory, almost a walking encyclopedia of knowledge with a kind heart and also considered a highly skilled Expert in Federal and State Highway Construction. He was part owner of McAfee Design & Distributing Co., Inc. as Vice-President and Sr. Estimator with notable projects being the Georgia Dome Football Stadium (Atlanta), Internal Revenue Service Center (Memphis, TN) and Marathon Island Bridge (Key West, FL) resulting in the firm receiving the Minority Construction Firm of the Year Award as the best Black Construction Company in America under the Clinton Administration. He was also the Chief Estimator on the Award of the Aviation Hanger, Two Story Office Building and Work Shop successfully constructed for the Nigerian Air Force whereby through his dedication over the years the firm grew from a two man operation to an International Company with projects successfully completed in six different countries: Mexico, Ghana, the Philippines, Columbia, South America, St. Petersburg, Russia and Nigeria. McAfee leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Adrian Andre McAfee, Jr.; one daughter, Angel Rohelia; a host of grandchildren, Au’Niyadt, Aliyah, Adrianah, Jamir, TaMirah, Trinity, Dairyana, Kennidy, Roger, Tayiana, Steven, Chase, Damarion, Jayla and Jeremiah; his loving mother, Geneva,; six brothers, Derek (Felicia), Darryl (Regina), Vern, Dennis, Alfonso Jr. (Shondria), Stacey (Sandy); four sisters, Lesia, Denice, Michelle and Sandy; cousins, T’sha (Michael), Rico (Ayanna), Dawn (Brockford); favorite nephews, Alfonso III, Adrian (Loretta), Stacey (Stacey, Sr.), Damione, Kenyon of Dallas, TX, Gerald, Sheldon of Flint, MI; nieces, Tamaress (Antonio), Tamara (Anthony); cousin, Rusty, Deon (Ricky), Victor, Ira, Tim King (IN), Myra Gibbs, Gadsden, AL, Michael, Dennis, Karen and Anthony Balls, the entire Jones family of Augusta, GA; Uncle Fred, Gadsden, AL; Aunt Betty Fey, Saginaw, MI ; special friends, Calvin Gill, Odell, Donnell and Columbus (Clayton) all of Saginaw, MI, Dennis Childs, Shem Hardwick, Tony Ellis, James Dorsey, Leroy McMath, Tucker Widdington, Kelvin of Atlanta, Nate, Bill, Terry Jackson, Loxola all of Atlanta, Tabatha Quarles, and the entire Jones family of Augusta, GA; mother of his son, Carol Watkins. Mr. McAfee was preceded in death by his father, Alfonso McAfee, Sr.; two brothers, Anthony Martin, Robin Wright; cousin, Clarence Balls; nephew, Baby Anthony and a special friend, Richard Jackson of Augusta, GA. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Bishop Darryl Martin will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family Hour will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Repast will be at: Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church 818 North Washington Avenue Saginaw, Michigan 48601
