Mr. Birtrell Leroy Fields, Jr.

Mr. Birtrell Leroy Fields, Jr. was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 20, 1955 to the proud parents of Birtrell, Sr. and Marie Della (Murray) Fields. He passed away on November 1, 2020 at the age of 65 years. Birtrell was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of “1973”. After graduation he joined the U. S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He was a member of New Birth Missionary Baptist Cathedral under the leadership of Bishop Larry Camel. He enjoyed wearing beautiful clothes and being fashionable, dancing and listening to music, especially R & B. Mr. Fields leaves to cherish his memory a special great-niece, Briana fields who he helped raise and adored along with her children, Zaniyah, Derell, Brooklyn and Derrion whom he named AKA “Baby Man”; loving father, Birtrell Fields, Sr.; sisters, Celeste (Clyde) Battle of Flint, MI, Dawne (Ernest) Lee, Nina Fields of Georgia, Latricia Fields of Saginaw, MI, Leslie Olsteen of Texas and Tamaria Davis of Georgia; brothers, Harry Fields of Saginaw, MI, Lamonte Fields of California, Lenny Fields of Ohio, Bryant Brandon and Christopher Snow; a niece and nephews that he helped raise, Passion Fields and Torrey, Correy Fields, Jawon Lee and Lamonte Grimsted of Virginia Beach, Virginia; aunts, Joyce Garrette of Grand Rapids, MI, Karen Browne Betts of Maryland and Elizabeth Walton of Jackson, MI; uncles, Kenny (Gladys) Fields and Alonzo Betts; 31 other nieces and nephews; 50 great-nieces and nephews; special cousin, Antionette Fields Forster and many other cousins too numerous to name; many other relatives and friends including special friends, David Fenn, Maurice Washington and Larry Goodman “Baldy”. Birtrell was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Della Fields; grandparents, Minrose and Harry Browne; Timothy Pauline Murray; step-grandmother, Ora Browne; aunts, Lucille Gray and Nadine Anderson; uncles, Fred Murray and Harry Fields; sister-in-law, Thomasine Murray; brother-in-law, John Anderson; four cousins, Phyllis McKinnley, Wendell Ward, Ralph Barney and Derrick Gray. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at New Birth Baptist Cathedral, 3121 Sheridan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Bishop Larry D. Camel will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601.
