Mr. Booker T. Mitchell

Booker T. Mitchell age 85 of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on September 23, 2016. He was born February 12, 1931 in Attapulgus, Georgia, the son of the late John and Susie Mitchell. In March of 1951, Booker enlisted into the US Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his enlistment in US Army, he moved to Saginaw, Michigan. Booker retired from General Motors Grey Iron Foundry in December 1978 after 25 years of service. He was very out spoken, kind hearted and his smile was very contagious. When he smiled, it made you smile. If you have ever been blessed to sit down and talk with him, he always spoke about education and working hard. Booker made sure he dropped some knowledge before you left his presence. He loved watching Dr. Phil, spending time with friends and cooking. Booker was never a materialistic person and never lived above his means. He enjoyed life to the fullest up until the day God called him home. The memory of Booker lives on in the hearts of his family and friends; his children, Teliferro (Orangig) Mitchell, Wonzella (Charles) Doyal, Artilla (Mario) Walker and Marlo (Verdell) Brabham; 18 grandchildren, Jasmin Jackson, Teliferro Mitchell, Jr., Tia Mitchell, Xavier Mitchell, Imani White, LaShonte’ (Justin) Lee, Chakieya (Cory) Doyal-Dottery, Charnesia Doyal, Chandisia (Nolan) Stephens, Chatoyia Doyal, Chavonne (Josh) Fields, Duane Henry, Jr., Marquiesha Walker, India Walker, Wayanna Brown, Kiera Brabham, Sandra Dillard and Michael Dillard; three sisters, Nina Pryor, Lois French and Artilla Martin; one brother, Henry Mitchell; close friends, Geneva Moore, Wardine Joiner, Ethel Sanders, Joyce DeVance and Wendell (Shirley) Bradley; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Mitchell was preceded into eternity by his wife, Josephine Mitchell; parents, John and Susie Mitchell; son, Brian Mitchell; one granddaughter, Jasmine White; seven brothers, John, Jr., Carl, Cosby, Sylvester, Gladstone, Simon and Clarence Mitchell and two sisters, Hestine Jenkins and Viola Marshall. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Pastor David Howard will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
