Mrs. Carol Mason

Carol (Blackmon) Mason was born on November 6, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Walter and Semearia (Cowart) Blackmon. Our loved one passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the age of 65 years. Carol was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1971 and a retiree of the Saginaw Public Schools System. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Carol enjoyed shopping, working in her yard, growing beautiful flowers and plants outside and inside her home. She was a stickler for cleaning, and loved attending gatherings with family and friends. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Derek Mason; daughter, Tonya (Morris) Sonnie; two sons, Damon Mason (Taiyel) and Derek Mason II (Tierra); four sisters and three brothers, Patricia A. Blackmon-Davis, Mary A. Blackmon-Johnson, Develma (Prentis) Howard, Walter (Diane) Blackmon, Jr. , Sylvia Blackmon-McCune, James “Felix” Blackmon (Clara Johnson) and Anthony (Teaneka) Blackmon; ten grandchildren, Daquavis “Dee”, Marquavis “Boss” (Sheena), Sharmese, Shatona, Jakijrah, Jada, Julianna, Derek III, Deion and Dominick; 10 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Sandra Mason; two brothers-in-law, Robert(Patricia) Mason and Dale (Nesha) Mason, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Semearia Blackmon; sister, Annie (O’Neal) Williams; brothers, Ray Charles Blackmon and Martin” Chris” Blackmon; father-in-law, Robert “Rocky” Mason and a sister-in-law, Tammy LaJoyce Mason. The family extends special thanks to our Bethel A.M.E. Church family, the staff of Covenant Healthcare ICU and 2nd floor and MiIVRx, Tammy RN. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Dennis Laffoon will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, 5950 Gratiot Rd., Saginaw, MI 48638. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 until 7 p.m.
