Mrs. Cather "Leady" Lue Baber

Mrs. Cather "Leady" Lue Baber passed away on March 31, 2017 at Covenant HealthCare–Harrison at the age of 83 years. She was born in De Kalb Mississippi on July 4, 1933 the fifth child to Mr. and Mrs. Ross (Tashia) Rush. Cather better known as, “Leady” enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She had a natural instinct for nurturing her loved ones, especially children ultimately resulting in her babysitting many children throughout the years. She enjoyed going to the farmers market, gardening (before health declined), and talking on the phone. Cather loved watching television, soap operas: The Young and The Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and television shows, such as Judge Judy, In the Heat of The Night and her favorite, Walker, Texas Ranger. Cather can be remembered for her love of money, food, and McDonald’s sweet teas. Most importantly she’ll be remembered for her bluntness and amazing sense of humor. To know her was to love her! Cather leaves to cherish many loving memories, two loving daughters, Connie (Albert) Whittington and Bridget Baber both of Saginaw, MI; six special and loving grandchildren, Aundray (Chinwe) Foster of McDonough, GA, Nikia Coleman, Terria Hilliard, Simone and Shaneka Erby and Nitashia (Terry) Simmons all of Saginaw, MI; twelve special and loving great-grandchildren, September (Devon) Riley of Saginaw, MI, Austell J. and Kendra Foster of McDonough, GA, J’Vier Jones, Sa’Kiya McDuffy, August Hunt, A’Nilah Ortiz, K’Lynn Erby, Kasin Simmons, TaMarria Myles, Kyrie Simmons and Savanna Williams all of Saginaw, MI; four special and loving sisters, Odie Mae Burrage of Chicago, IL, Renola Williams, of Calumet City, IL, Eva Grace Macon and Mary Alice Hubbert both of Saginaw, MI; three special and loving brothers, Burnett Rush of Omaha, NE, Glen Rush of Saginaw, MI and Marvin (Juanita) Rush of Milwaukee, WI; two sisters-in-law, Berline Rush of Louisville, MS and Ann Rush of Omaha, NE; five special nieces, Robbin Baker of Calumet City, IL, Levorn Macon of Saginaw, MI, Ruth Foster of Detroit, MI, Tashia Small of Lindenhurst, IL and Catherine Haynes of Louisville, MS; one special nephew, Charlie Macon of Freeland, MI; two special great-nieces, Reshaunda Foster of Detroit, MI and Mya Macon of Saginaw, MI; three special cousins, Helen Russell of Cleveland, OH, Pearl Crosby of Detroit, MI and Minnie McCree of Detroit, MI; three special friends, Loretta Price of McDonough, GA, John Hilliard of Chicago, IL and Valerie McDole of Alabaster, AL; one god-daughter, Jy’Nia Brown of Saginaw, MI; a host of special and loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Cather was also preceded in death by her husband, Clovis Baber; son, Terry Rush; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross and Tasha (Overstreet) Rush; five brothers, Johnny Charles, James, William and Emmett Rush and one sister, Annette Prince. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017 at New Life Ministries Church, 1401 Janes Street. Pastor Rufus Bradley will officiate with interment at Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 5:00-8:00 p.m. to greet friends.
