Mrs. Della Weese Morris

On Sunday September 10, 2023, Mrs. Della Weese Morris, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was called home to be with the Lord after a brief illness at the age of 85 years. She was born March 22, 1938 in Brundidge, Alabama to the union of Roscoe and Foy Lue Pickett. Mother Morris was married to Willie Gold Morris for 58 years. Upon graduating from Pike County Training School in 1955, she furthered her education by enrolling at Emory Nursing School in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Della Morris retired from Saginaw Geriatrics Home as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), with over 30 years of dedicated service. Mother Morris was a longtime resident of Saginaw, Michigan and a faithful member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Willie Hill, Jr. There, she served on the Kitchen Committee and the Mothers’ Board. She enjoyed attending church services, cooking for her family, listening to gospel music, spending quality time with her grandchildren and watching game shows. Mother Morris leaves her devoted children to cherish her memory; four sons, Harold (Mary Galarno) Morris, Darrell (Cynthia) Morris, Sr., Kenneth (Yvette) Morris all of Saginaw, MI and David (Inez) Morris, Dothan, AL; three daughters, Latisher (Andrew) Hall, Clintonia (James) Jones, both of Brundidge, AL and Tanya (Victor Cary) Morris, Wetumpka, AL; grandchildren, Shawann Rodgers, Brundidge, AL, Lakeisha Galloway, Grand Rapids, MI, Brandon and Johnny Johnson, both of Dothan, AL, Darrell Morris, Jr, Hollywood, CA, Bria (Amos) Johnson, Romulus, MI, Brandi (Jelani Rucker) Morris, Columbus, OH and Xavier Morris, Wetumpka, AL; great-grandchildren, Kobee Rodgers-Wallace and Kaden Jones, both of Brundidge, AL; one brother, Deacon Theodis (Geneva) Pickett of Dothan, AL; one sister, Dessiree Pickett, Brundidge, AL; sister-in-law, Savannah Caffie, Brundidge, AL; several nieces, nephews and cousins including special neighbors and friends, Sam (Joyce) Winters, Betty Bibb and Shirleen Rozier. Mother Morris is waiting to be greeted by her loving devoted husband, Willie Gold Morris; parents, Roscoe and Foy Lue Pickett; mother-in-law, Olivia Morris; father-in-law, Simon Morris; two sisters, Ollie Tucker and Lodean Flowers Sheffield; two brothers, John Reynolds and Rafis Pickett; sisters-in-law, Nora Fenn, Annie Henley, Agnes Bond, Janie Coston, Julia Morris and Ora Lee; brothers-in-law, Willie L. and Kyser Morris, Jaddie Caffie, Charlie Fenn, Deacon James Henley and L. Kanner Sheffield. Mother Della Weese Morris will be greatly and sorely missed. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 1111 N. 29th St., Saginaw, MI, 48601. Dr. Willie R. Hill, Jr. will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday, from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
