Mr. General "Mac" Douglas McArthur Whitson

Mr. General Douglas “Mac” MacArthur Whitson arrived into eternal rest on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the age of 71 years. He was born April 13, 1947 in Berry, Alabama, the son of Nubert, Sr. and Susie (Hollingsworth) Whitson. He accepted Christ at an early age and moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1965. Mac married Yvonne Smith on October 1, 1966. General Whitson was employed at General Motors Grey Iron Foundry and was a member of the UAW Local 668. Mr. Mac Whitson relocated to Antioch, TN in 2016. He was known for his Mac quotes: “Don’t go way mad, just go away.” “You look better going than coming.” “I’m blowing dusk, need a cold one.” Mac leaves to treasure his memory, two sons, Stevie (Margaret) Whitson, Saginaw, MI and Devaundre (Jasmin) Whitson, Antioch, TN; one daughter, LaTisha (Lloyd) Demery, Saginaw, MI; one brother, Franklin Whitson; grandchildren, Steve Whitson, Jr., Stone Mountain, GA, Paris Whitson, Dacquandra Wheeler, Atlanta, Ga, NaKita and NaStasha Whitson, Saginaw, MI, Alexis Whitson, Grapevine, TX, Dacquan (Capateron) Whitson, Conyers, GA, Akia, Miracle and Ja’Quan’tae Whitson, Saginaw, MI, JaTarrius Sanders, Antioch, TN, Shadaria, Lativa, Xanavia Tinsley, Kaila Wilson, Demarquise Abraham, Jalen Macon, Troionte Chesney, Saginaw, MI; great-grandchildren, Dacquan, Davaris, Da”Nieya Whitson, Conyers, GA and Detavis Young, Saginaw, MI, Emariyon, Dream, Domani, Delayla and Edward IV Tucker, Naomi Rogan and Troionna Chesney, Amaya Davis and Jamie Smith; two brothers-in-law, Alton (Dorothea) Smith, Lawrenceville, GA and Marlon (Yolanda) Smith, Conyers, GA; three sisters-in-law, Erlene Whitson, Brenda Helton, Saginaw, MI and J. Mr. Whitson was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Whitson; daughter, Jacqueline Whitson; his parents, Nubert, Sr. and Susie Whitson; seven brothers, Nubert, Jr., William ”Fat”, James, Milton, Felton, Rubert and Roy Whitson; two sisters, Christine Grayson and Earleane Stowe; mother and father-in-law, Ossie Mae and Johnnie C. Smith. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 1111 North 29th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Willie Hill, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
