Mrs. Henreau Gail Harris

Missionary (Henreau) Henrine Gail Harris was her family’s matriarch. She left to be her heavenly father on March 10, 2016. Henrine was the second of nine children, born on December 25, 1943 to Laura Robinson and James Evans Sr. in Tchula, Mississippi, later moving to Chicago, Illinois, and ended her journey in Saginaw, MI. Mrs. Harris loved the Lord! She took her role as missionary and first lady of Church on the Rock (Church of God in Christ) seriously. No matter how hard it got she always had faith that Jesus would work things out. She helped out a lot of people from feeding them, to checking on them when they’re sick and shut in to comforting and giving support when others suffered a lost. Henreau had the words to make you feel great when your world was turned upside down. She worked a couple of jobs in her time, but there were two that contributed to her life the most. While working as a home Health Aide she treated her clients with the same respect and care she would her own relatives. In return she gained lifelong friendships, trust and honor amongst her peers. Henreau ended her career retiring as a Teacher’s Aide at Saginaw Head Start Program. She loved her students so much that even the parents adopted her calling her “Grandma”. Henreau was everyone mother, friend and aunt. She was a great cook who loved to entertain family. Henreau enjoyed watching the Gospel TV channels and two of her favorite shows were Oprah and Dr. Phil. She gave unconditional love, advice without judgment and she was selfless and was not afraid to tell you if you were wrong. People describe her as one of the sweetest persons they knew. She was married to Pastor Harry Harris for 42 years until his untimely death in 2009; together they raised a family in Saginaw, MI. She leaves behind five children, MaryAnn Berry, Shirley Ann Robinson (Matthew), James Berry, Linda McCall, and Latisha Berry; 12 grandchildren, Temeika (Earl) Shannon, Korry Berry, Passion Enoch, Antoinette Berry, Jiles (Taniesha) Berry, Damion Berry, Donny Berry, Sidney Berry, Shantoy Childress, Brittney Childress, Jacquisha Blackwell, and Tiesha Blackwell; two sisters, Ruth Ann Whitaker of Chicago, IL and Senora Robinson of MS; two brothers, Jessie and George Robinson; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of god-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special cousins, Deloris Williams and Ida B.; a host of many extended family members and special friends. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Harry Harris; parents, James Evans, Sr. and Laura Robinson; two sisters, Dorothy Evans and Elma Williams; three brothers, James Evans, Jr., J.D. Evans and Jimmy Robinson. She will be missed more than words can say and her spirit will forever be alive. The wisdom she passed along will live on. WE WILL LOVE AND MISS YOU MOM! Family hour 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at Christ Image Community Church, 708 West Genesee Avenue, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Eugene Burton, Host Pastor and Pastor Louis Owens will officiate. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
