Mr. Henry Lee Bell

Mr. Henry Lee Bell, Sr., affectionately called Henry Lee passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. He was born n September 3, 1941 in Webster County, Georgia to the late Mr. Henry Major Bell and Mrs. Catherine West Bell. He passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the age of 77 years. Henry Lee attended Ida S. Lowery School in Preston, GA where he graduated top of his class. On April 14, 1965 he married the love of his life, Willie Mae Scott. She preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army and the U. S. National Guard. Henry Lee graduated from South Georgia Technical School with a diploma in Auto Body and Fender repair in 1975. For many years, he operated his own automotive body shop where he loved and specialized in restoring classic cars. In 1976, Henry Lee moved his family to Saginaw, Michigan where he worked primarily in underground pipeline construction. In 1980, he was dedicated and baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in the Saginaw South Congregation. He remained a part of this congregation until his death. Henry Lee was a true handyman in every sense of the word. From building homes to fixing faucets, he did it all. Among his hobbies, he loved fishing, gardening, playing cards, traveling, barbecuing, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Brittney. While he was generally a very quiet man, hearing him tell a joke was often funnier than the actual joke. And you really have not seen a garden till you’ve see Henry Lee’s. Henry Lee leaves to cherish his memory, his loving, devoted and self-sacrificing daughters, Anita and Cassandra Bell both of Saginaw, Michigan; his only son, Henry Bell, Jr (Tonya) of Locust Grove, GA; his only grandchild, Brittney Bell of Locust, GA; three brothers, Johnnie Lee (Thelma) Bell of Saginaw, Alfred (Myra) Bridges of Lorton, VA; two sisters, Mattie Lincoln of Fitchburg, WI and Bobbie Gail Bridges of Preston, GA, along with a host of nieces and nephew. Also, very special friends, Mr. Leo Clayton and Collenton Rucker. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Bell; two sisters, Elsie Bridges and Anna Campbell and a very special cousin, Mr. Clarence West. Visitation will take place Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 1203 North Niagara, Saginaw, MI 48602. Bro. James Brown will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442.
