Mr. Jerell Oswald Rider

Our dearly beloved son, brother, father, uncle, and friend passed away on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, at the age of 36. Jerell was born on November 20, 1984, in Saginaw, Michigan to Yvonne Rider and the late Leroy Neal. Jerell was a fun, loving and funny person who loved family and friends. He really enjoyed his career as a truck driver and was a dedicated employee. Jerell could strike up a conversation with anyone and enjoyed meeting new people. He graduated from Carrollton High School but also attended Nelle Haley, Webber Middle, Saginaw High and Arthur Hill High School. While at Arthur Hill, Jerell played basketball and football. He also enjoyed playing football and basketball in his free time. Jerell will be remembered for his big heart, courageous attitude and a smile that would light up any room. He touched many lives and always pushed people to do better. Jerell leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Nahla Patience Rider of Saginaw, Michigan; two sons, Gabriel Bragg of Atlanta, Georgia and Brayden Burnett of Humble, Texas; his beloved mother, Yvonne Rider-McMillan and step father, Carl McMillan of Saginaw, Michigan; grandmother, Ruth Williams of Saginaw, Michigan; five sisters, Denita Rider of Saginaw, Michigan, Brenda (Tony) King of Forest City, Arkansas, Valerie Molina of Florida, Zenobia Reynolds of St. Louis, Missouri and Tricia Neal of Lexington, Kentucky; five brothers, Reginald (Stacy Lynn) Neal of Aurora, Colorado, Rodney Neal of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Mario (Belinda) Neal of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Khari Neal of Los Angeles, California and Gregory Hendrix of Livonia GA; special nephew, Kahleel J. Rider; and a host of other nieces and nephews; five aunts, Naomi (Robert) Williams-Cavalho of St. Johns, Antigua, Elaine Williams of Yonkers, New York, Olivia Bryson and Mary Neal of Saginaw, Michigan and Christine (Charles) Miller of Waterloo, Iowa; three uncles, Charlesworth “Stanley” Williams of Saginaw, Michigan, Courtnay “Edwin” Williams of St. John’s, Antigua and Larry Graham, Sr. of Saginaw, Michigan; special cousins, Shevonne (Dwayne) Kirnon-Carr and Whitney Kirnon, Larry Graham Jr., and Valerie Graham; special friends that were special to him; the late Benjamin and Maverick Henderson, and Azikiwe Presley, Markeen Baker, Terrance Welch, Perry Archibald, Jr., Jazmine McLaughlin, Douglas Johnson, Ken Bady, Tecole Madu (Smith) and countless family and friends who were blessed to know him and too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Neal; grandfather, Charles Williams, grandparents; James W. Neal Sr and Maggie Haggins-Neal; uncles, James Neal, and Frank Neal; Aunt JoAnn Neal. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, September 10, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
