Ms. Jo Anne Davis Grafton

Ms. Jo Anne (Davis) Grafton was born on November 8, 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Sam and Mary (Davis) Sherrod. Ms. Grafton passed away on May 29, 2023 at the age of 60 years. Jo was the fourth of five children, a longtime resident of Saginaw, Michigan and she also resided in Grand Rapids, MI. She attended Buena Vista Schools and was a proud graduate of Buena Vista High School “Class of 1980”. Shortly after graduation, she joined the U. S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge. Jo loved singing, listening to and dancing to her music and she also loved her Newport 100’s. She was greatly known for her delicious tacos and tamales sales that she did in Saginaw and Grand Rapids, MI. Jo was the life of the party, you were always in for a good laugh. She never hesitated with expressing how she felt about something or someone. She was a true born soldier in any and everything thrown her way. Our wild, unique Anchor and Angel will be truly missed. Jo Anne leaves to cherish many memories two daughters, Ciara Davis, Grand Rapids, MI and Olivia Miller, Saginaw, MI; five grandchildren, Haily Taylor, Ava Daniels, Ariel Richmond, Alijah Miller and Liam Moore; two sisters, Jeanette Blacksher, Saginaw and Jill Dennis, Montgomery, AL; two brothers, Gary Davis, Battle Creek, MI and Gerald Davis, Flint, MI; three aunts, Carolyn Davis, Annette (Arthur) Millege and Letha (Clifford) Calhoun both of Saginaw; two uncles, Jake (Virgie) McNair, Lisbon, AL and Robert S. (Earlene) McNair, Saginaw; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including cousins that she held dear, Patricia Lynn, Robert Glover, Jr. and Donald McNair, other relatives and special friends. Ms. Jo Anne Grafton was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary (George) Sherrod; grandmother, Sadie (Robert) Finnel; uncles, Willie DeShazor, Herman McNair and Johnny Ray Finnel; aunts, Delores Finnel and Jewel McNeal; great-aunts, Beatrice Glover and others; best friend, Levern “Slick” Simon. The family extends special thanks to Pastor Ben Smith, Pastor Aundrea Lewis, Pastor Luciose (Mother Kayron) Lewis, Pastor Ronnie Bryant, Katonha Conley, Alberta Palmer and the Designer Dugout families. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Dr. Willie F. Casey will officiate.
