Mrs. JoAnne Banks

Our beloved mother, JoAnne “Jo” Banks passed away on November 29, 2022 at the age of 67 years. JoAnne Washington was born in Saginaw, Michigan on January 14, 1955 to the late Betty Mae Washington and Benjamin Williams. She was blessed to be raised by her father the late Curley Washington. JoAnne loved cooking, listening to music and enjoying time with her family. She would welcome anyone into home that need a place to stay. In 1987 JoAnne married the love of her life James A. Banks, Jr. until he preceded her in death on August 9, 2022. JoAnne leaves to cherish many memories, two daughters, Tameka (Calvin) Bridgeforth of Goodlettsville, TN and TaQuana Ada Franklin of Saginaw, MI; adopted son, Marcus Williams of Saginaw, MI; eight grandchildren, Dekwonta Washington, all of Saginaw, MI, Karlishia, Karree and Karl Ray, Jr., all of Tennessee, Ar-Monta and Amari Franklin, A’Denn Lindsey and A’Darrius Reilly, all of Saginaw, MI; 14 great-grandchildren, Alliyah, D’Niro, Danniel, Journey, A’Marion, A’Nahi, Izreal, A’Marionna, Kacey, Kamar, Ka’Miyah, Kameel, DaJisha and Aseer; three brothers, Larry Williams of Saginaw, MI, Benjamin Williams and Craig Strong, both of Louisiana; sister, Lucille Batieste of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Banks and Linda Washington; many cousins, nieces and nephews including Sharice Hooker, Kevin Shacks and Justin Greeman; god-daughters, Nannette Smith and Samone Culberson; special cousins, Merissa Peters, Gary Collins, Perry Archibald, Crystal and Ternenia O’Bryan; special friends, Charlotte Baker, Anthony Hicks and Derinda Culberson. JoAnne was processed in death by her son, James “JJ” Banks III; great-granddaughter, Mi’Onna Rodriguez; sisters, Nellie McNair, Rose Williams, BethAnn Williams and Sheila Banks; brothers, James Otis Washington and Melvin White; special cousins, Malcolm O’Bryan and Sofrania Stewart. The family would like to express a big thank you to Alonzo and the entire Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home staff. Mommy we miss you so much. Meka and Ada Funeral service 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Dr. Willie F Casey will officiate with interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue. Visitation will take place on Monday at the funeral home from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
