Mr. Joe Harris McCall

Mr. Joe Harris McCall, Sr. passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the age of 77 years. He was born May 10, 1939 in Greenville, Alabama, the son of Lamon and Ethel McCall. Joe was a resident of Saginaw, MI and a member of Christ Disciples Baptist Church. He was employed by General Motors until he retired, after giving them 27 years of service. Joe loved to walk his dog “Mack”, watching cowboy movies while lying back in his lazy-boy and going to McDonalds to have a cup of coffee. He was part of the Negro Baseball League. Joe took pride in keeping his cars clean and monitoring who rode in them, as well as keeping an eye on the gas hand! He loved hearing about his grandchildren and watching them grow up. Spending time with his wife and kids was his favorite pass time of all. Joe truly loved his family that he’d created for himself and his family truly loved him. Mr. Joe Harris McCall leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Sandra K. McCall of 31 years of Saginaw, MI; four daughters and two sons, Tiffany and Juliette McCall, both of Dallas, TX, Joe (Kimberly) McCall, Jr. of Cedar Hill, TX, Tokesha (Rennie) Beckford, Jr., JoTara McCall, both of Saginaw, MI and Larry Davis of Alma, MI; 11 grandchildren, Juaun McCall, Jamilla McCall, Jonathan Monroe, Janessa McCall, Jaelin Hornbuckle, Darnell Davis, Jayson McCall, Alexandria, J’Nya Barrett, Imani Harper and Sarai Franklin; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Monroe; special nephews, Mark and Marcus; mother and father-in-law, Daniel and Catherine Voltz; six sisters-in-law, Sharon (James) Granderson, Sylvia Wirrick, Mary Alford, Deborah Adams, Geneva Gibson and Yvonne Weathers; brother-in-law, Johnny Williams; god-daughter, Audria Gibson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. McCall was preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express special thanks to the health care staff at St. Mary’s of Michigan and Southern Care Hospice team. Also a very special thank-you to all the family members who helped care for Joe throughout his time of illness. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2016 Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Tolliver will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m.
