Mr. John Frederick "Fred" Monroe

Mr. John Frederick “Fred” Monroe was born March 2, 1959 in Wolf Island, MO the youngest of 12 children born to Theodore and Charlotte (Packard) Monroe. He passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the age of 57 years. John attended Arthur Eddy and Buena Vista Schools. After graduating in 1977 he started working at General Motors Grey Iron Foundry. He was a member of Greater Freewill Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor James E. Speed. “Fred” loved playing pool, traveling and basketball in his younger years. He was a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court. He loved family and family gatherings. “Fred” always had a smile on his face. Mr. Monroe leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandra D. Monroe, Saginaw, MI; daughters, Heather N. Stewart and Kandria R. Richardson; step-sons, Moses C. and Kenya C. Moore; grandchildren, DeMontae Steward of Orlando, FL, DeShon Steward, Armariyaun Daniel, Dmaris and Amaris Buriel and Armari Richardson, all of Saginaw, MI; great-grandchildren, DiMiya and Imahi Steward; sisters, Alberta Jackson and Geraldine (Moty) McKinney, both of Saginaw, MI; brothers, Charley (Pickett) Monroe and Larry (Pamela) Monroe, both of Saginaw, MI; special nieces, Ivory (The Honorable M.T.) Thompson, Mary (Willie) McMillon, Tawana (Dontae) White and Ruby Lee Menzie, all of Saginaw, MI; special nephews, Robert Herbert Menzie and Danny Monroe; sisters-in-law, Deanna Steward, Leatrice Monroe, Brenda Jackson,all of Saginaw, MI and Debra Monroe, Kansas City, MO; god-sister, Deatera Long; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Tony Reed, Charles Lee, Tony Steward and Kevin Jones, all of Saginaw, MI. John was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Charlotte Monroe; grandparents, Square and Ophelia Green; mother and father-in-law, Earlene and William Steward; brothers, Elder Theodore R. (Neva) Monroe, Jr., Eddie Lee Monroe and Johnnie Lee Monroe; sisters, Reolar Triplett, Ruthie Mae Menzie, Lula Menzie and Dorothy Menzie; brother-in-law, William Steward, Jr.; sister-in-law, Linda Henderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to express special thanks to, the Saginaw Police Dept., MMR, Mikes Wrecker, Greater Freewill Missionary Baptist Church, Messiah Missionary Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan that stopped and helped with Fred’s resuscitation efforts. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Rd. Pastor Otis Washington, host pastor. Pastor James E. Speed will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Monday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 7:00-8:00 p.m. to greet friends.
