Ms. Mary Ann Allen

Mary Ann Hatchett was born on April 19, 1960 to Jessie Mae Hatchett and James Baskin in Union Springs, Al. She was then adopted and relocated to Saginaw, MI by her loving parents Annie Lee Allen and James Allen at the tender age of six months old and her name was changed to Mary Ann Allen. Mary Ann’s adopted mother was her biological aunt. She was proud that her mother gave her sister the ability to have a child of her own. She always said her parents taught her the meaning of unconditional love and that’s how she lived her life- constantly giving it. She was always proud that she had two sets of parents. Mary Ann graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Accounting then relocated to Philadelphia, PA for a short time before moving to Northern, VA where she resided until 2004 when she moved to her dream location of Atlanta, GA. In 2008 she bought her dream home and resided there until she departed this world peacefully on January 2, 2018. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Nathan and Annette and several other family members she loved dearly. She is survived by her siblings James Hatchett (Gwendolyn), Kimberly Hatchett, James Baskin (Kathy), Samuel Baskin, James Baskin and Tabatha Young (Wendell); her cousin/homie/friend/partner in crime, Anna Pearl Hatchett; her friend/bestie/boo/sister-girl, Amanda Tate; her special daughter in her heart Tekyah McGriff; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of nieces, nephews and god-children. A special mention to her soulmate Andrew Gordon your Big Baby loved you. Mary had a host of close friends that she loved dearly and kept close to her heart. To all her Internet friends know she had a special place in her heart for you since she never met a stranger and gave all unconditional love. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Elder A.C. Hatchett will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
