Mrs. Mary F. "Ms. Nash" Morris

Our Beloved Mother, Mrs. Mary Frances Morris passed away peacefully Sunday, May 26, 2024, surrounded by the love of her close family and friends at the age of 80 years. She was born June 16, 1943, in Sunflower, Mississippi to Ethel and Eddie Humphries, Jr. Mary moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1966 and shortly after began working for the Saginaw Public School District. She was a Librarian for over 30 years and retired in June 2006 from Saginaw High School. Mary loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age. Mary was the First Lady of Complete Man Ministries until her husband Carl passed away in 2017. Mary would often visit the nursing homes and prison for ministry. Mary was a great cook. On holidays, she would cook a big feast, and everyone would gather at her house to eat good and create memories. She made sure everyone left with their own sweet potato pie or banana pudding. Throughout the years you could often catch Mary and Carl at all the Saginaw High basketball and football games. Mary was a crafty lady, and her true passion was sewing. She would sew everyone’s prom dresses and make her own dresses for church and events. Mary was also full of stories and laughter so she loved to talk on the phone to family and friends, she always said her niece Jennifer could talk for hours but, I promise she could too. Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, always putting others before her. She had the most generous and loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. Mary was a woman of purpose, compassion, and strength. Her family and friends will always be thankful for her gift of life. Her memory is a sacred keepsake, from which we’ll never part. Mary leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Cathy and Betty Nash; three sons, Michael, Glen (Juliet) and Darryl (Amy) Nash; one stepson, Marcus Vanlanham; granddaughters, Sharda, Kelsey, Kaitlin, Michaela and Makiyah Nash; grandsons, Delvin, Kevin, and Glen Jr Nash, Darryl Johnson, and Joe Willie (Sophia) Jones; great granddaughters: Eryn Nash; Mia Jade Johnson, and Souliyah Jones; great-grandson, Julius Jones: brothers, Stanley and Ricky (Billie Jean) Humphries; sisters, Betty (Joe) Gardner and Eleanor Joiner; brothers-in-law, Joseph and David Morris; sisters-in-law, Shirley, Felicidad Humphries and Pinkie Greer; niece, Jennifer and Dana Patterson, Teresa (Brandon) Monford, Letetia Humphries, LaShay Irons, Stephanie Alexander, Cheryl Powell, Khadia and Porsha Humphries; nephews, Terry Gardner, Louis Humphries Jr, Joe Gardner, Stanley Humphries, and Stanley Haymon; special sister-in-law, Glenda Donald; special niece, Felicia Jordan Morris-Mallard; special cousins, Pamela and Damon Todd and John Myers; special friends, Geraldine Southern, Lotta Archibald, Ruthie Moore, Marshall Thomas, and Pastor Charlena Washington; father of her children, Billie Joe Nash; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Mary was preceded in death her husband, Carl E. Morris: her parents, Eddie and Ethel Humphries Jr.; father and mother-in-law, Henry and Annie Mae Morris, Sr.; grandson, Raheem J. Nash; brothers, Louis, Bob and Corbett Humphries; sister, Marva Patterson; sisters-in-law, Mary Maguehi and Minnie Mae Morris; brothers-in-law, Herman Chatman and Henry Morris, Jr; aunt, Ora Willie Todd and nephew, Keith Gardner. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Covenant ICU and 7th floor staff, JoAnn Harris, Barbara Nash, Irene Sherman, John Myers, and Latia Lawson. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Holly Communion Gospel Center, 1245 East Genesee Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Charlene Washington will officiate. Interment will take place in Great Lake National Cemetery, G4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
