Mr. Samuel N. Lawson, Sr.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 2403 E. Remington. Pastor Murry Culberson will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Age 71 years. Samuel N. Lawson was born September 11, 1944 in Elverton, West Virginia, son of the late Jonas and Sally Lawson. He served in the United States Navy for 8 years. He retired from Eaton Corporation after working 35 dedicated years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, dancing, and cracking jokes. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Arrie Lawson; two sons, Rodney Jackson of Bridgeport, Connecticut; Samuel Lawson Jr of Saginaw, Michigan; five daughters, Alicia Lawson of Memphis, Tennessee; Annie (James) Jones and Pamela Carter of Saginaw, Michigan; Veronica (Greg) Coleman of OshKosh, Wisconsin; Sandra Bradley of Warner Robins, Georgia; sixteen grandchildren; Sharronda Carter, Latia Lawson, Breyonta Carter, Veneccia Henderson, Travion Lawson, Greg Hayes, Voneekia Henderson, Amonie Hughes, Nathaniel Coleman, Valeishia Henderson, Jasmine Southward, Clifton Bradley III, Makiya Hughes, Jonathan Coleman, Alasia Lawson, and Samyion Lawson; seven great grandchildren; one sister Thelma (Hope) Dickerson of Summerville, South Carolina; one brother Hubert (Linda) Lawson of Lufkin, Texas; seven sisters-in-law, Josephine Lawson, Brenda Lawson, Bonnie Ruth Carter, Hannah Carter, Bonnie Lee Carter, Alice Carter, Annette Baker; five brothers-in-law, Hope Dickerson, Larry Carter, Michael (Laura) Carter , Orson Carter, Erskin Carter; many other relatives and friends including a special godson Joe Willie Jones; special goddaughters Tonea Ruth and Tiffany Ross; special cousin, Frank Carter; special friends Kenneth Smithers, Ronnie Dugan, Charles Jones, Essic Jones, Henry Macon and Temeka Trammell. He was predeceased in death by two sisters, Mary and Velma; four brothers, Jonas, Joe, David and Wayne; grandson Dezi Lee Henderson Jr; father-in-law Oscar Carter; mother-in-law Kattie Burnside; brothers-in-law Bobby Wayne and Bobby Gene Carter; one sister-in-law Bonnie Kate Logan; and one nephew Dennis Dickerson.
