Sarah Lee Youngblood

Mother Sarah Lee Youngblood was called home on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the age of 88 years. She was born May 1, 1926 in Union Springs, AL to Robert Lee and Lugene (Williams) Brooks. Mother Youngblood was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where Rev. Roosevelt Austin, Sr. was her first pastor and longtime friend. She was also very supportive of Christ Kingdom Ministries and her son-in-law, Apostle Edward L. Jackson. She spent many years as a nanny to families of various ethnic backgrounds. Sarah was a cook in many food establishments. She was a spiritual influence and role model to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Her hobbies included fishing, shopping, traveling (cruises) and spending time with her family. Sarah is survived by her children, Charlene Jones, Sara Ann Johnson, Mattie (Rev. Edward) Jackson, Lenalle Shannon, Alice Morgan, Patricia (Issac) Swilley, Edna (Greg) Jones, Joyce (Eugene) Jackson and Tommie Lee Youngblood; brothers, Jessie (Fronie) Garner, Johnnie (Betty) Williams, Henry Feagin and Will Jim Feagin; sister, Lula McClendon; niece, Rose Mary Burch; special cousins, Rev. Nathaniel Calhoun and Johnnie Mae Burt; grandchildren that she raised as her own, Tracie Campbell, Janeen Youngblood- Weems, Elaine Youngblood, Alex Mandrake Youngblood, Dewight and DeWayne Hale. She leaves to cherish her memory many other relatives and friends, including special friends, Elder Roosevelt and Josette Hill, Ernestine Donald, Rosemary White, Rita Nobles and the Harper family of Vassar, MI. Mother Youngblood was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lugene Brooks; husband, Arthur Lee Youngblood, Sr.; son, Arthur Lee Youngblood, Jr.; daughter, Gloria Hale; sister, Mae Lilly Harris; sisters-in-law, Vivian Feagin, Tessola Ivey and Patsy Williams; brothers-in-law, John Harris, Tepor Youngblood, Clayton (Alice) Youngblood, Willie Lee Youngblood and Porterfield Youngblood; grandchildren, LeMonte D. Davis and Marlene Hale; and nephew, Ossie (Bessie) King. The family of Mother Sarah Lee Youngblood would like to express special thanks to Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Christ Kingdom Ministries, Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home, Hoyt Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre, A&D Home Nursing Service, her caregiver, Cathy Stephens and Tanya Barker. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Johnson Street. Pastor Rodrick A. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
