Mr. Steven Landrum

Mr. Steven Landrum passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 67 years he was born August 3, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of George Landrum Sr. and Jessie Mae (Terry) Landrum. Following a brief illness, he passed away November 15, 2015 at the age of 67 years. Steven was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, MI and attended Saginaw Public Schools, graduating from Saginaw High School, Class of 1966. He earned his Associate Degree from Delta College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from Michigan State University. Steven also received certification in Computer Information Systems from MSU Flint. Steven was chef/manager at Ponderosa Restaurant in Lansing, MI, was part owner of the Chateau Elegance’, and was employed at GMAC of General Motors Corporation. Steven also prepared and delivered meals to the elderly for the Commission on Aging. While attending Michigan State, Steven became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He enjoyed walking, singing and especially loved Broadway show tunes. A favorite activity that gave him great pride was to cook and bake for family and friends. One of his most memorable moments was his performance in a college production of “Raisin in the Sun.” Steven was a lifelong, dedicated and faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. He served on numerous committees, he was a Boy Scout leader, custodian, and worked with the Cup of Water Committee and was also a member of the Courtesy Committee. His true passion was singing with the Chancel Choir. He leaves to cherish numerous memories, two sisters, Cassandra L. and Emily R. Landrum, both of Saginaw, MI; two nieces, Sharon Darlene Meredith of Lithonia, GA and Shawnisha Tramaine Landrum of Saginaw, MI; two nephews, Stephen Andrae Landrum of Saginaw, MI and Jamaul Maurice Landrum of Chicago, IL; Steven is also survived by, three great-nephews; two great-nieces; aunts, Shirley Murray, Jeanette Washington, both of Saginaw, MI, Sharon Landrum of Ypsilanti, MI, Charleana Allen of Detroit, MI and Betty Landrum of Memphis, TN; uncles, J. T. (Rev. Azalee) Landrum and Robert (Irene) Landrum, both of Saginaw, MI; special cousins include, Elsenia Porterfield family, Hazel Williams family, Eva Alexander family, Clarise Prince family, Joyce Bell family of Pittsburgh, PA and Ernest V. Landrum III family; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Dennis Porter, John Turner, Charles Patrick, Carlton Flakes, Roslyn and Adolph McQueen, Yvette Wofford, Sylvia McAfee,Virginia Winbush and the Chancel Choir. Mr. Landrum was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Jessie Landrum; brothers, Donald and George Landrum, Jr.; grandparents; aunts and uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant ICU, the 4th Floor Nursing Staff, Covenant Rehab, Heartland Healthcare and the Bethel A.M.E. Church Family. They are also grateful to James McMillon, Douglas Lane, Linda Suggs, Lorna Burke, Gracie Witherspoon, Tonja Brown, Delores McNair, Shender McKinney, Cynthia Polk and family, Mark White and family, Fresenius Dialysis family and many more too numerous to mention. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
