Mr. Thomas James Casey, Jr.

Thomas James Casey, Jr. a devoted husband, proud father, beloved grandfather, unwavering son, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the age of 65 years. Born May 27, 1952 in Ozark, Alabama to Thomas J. and Tissurene (McGhee) Casey, Sr. He was the fourth born of eight children and affectionately known as “Junior”. Thomas lived a life of significant impact through his love, faith, and service to family, friends and community. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Roosevelt Mosley, Sr. In his later years, Thomas became a member of Clearstone First Baptist Church and then transitioned his membership to Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the Male Gospel Choir. Thomas was an employee of General Motors Corp. for 38 years where he held various leadership positions including; management, quality and logistics. He was well known in the GM Community for his leadership and strong work ethic. Thomas was an employee of Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. He also had a passion for youth and their education. He served on the Buena Vista School Board for 10 years and was a board member for the Michigan High School Athletic Association. He could often be found laboring around the house as he enjoyed working with his hands and could build or repair just about anything. At family gatherings Thomas could always be found at the grill with a welcoming smile, preparing his world-class famous ribs. Mr. Casey leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife of 24 years, Silva Ann (Crittendon) Casey; two sons and two daughters, Darrick (Marion) Casey of Detroit, MI, Brian (Felicia) Casey of Upper Marlboro, MD, Michelle (Ron) Hill of Grand Blanc, MI and Courtney Patterson of Saginaw, MI; four grandchildren, Sydney and Kendall Hill, both of Grand Blanc, MI, Brianna Casey of Baltimore, MD and Orion Jones of Saginaw, MI; his mother, Tissurene Casey, Saginaw; MI; five siblings, Jeanette Parker, Delores Casey McNair, Dr. Willie (Ida) Casey and Vernida Casey, all of Saginaw, MI and Dr. Tonya (Solomon, Jr.) Patray of Ypsilanti, MI; mother-in-law, Lottie McClain; one sister-in-law, Gail (Dennis) Porter of Saginaw, MI; one aunt, Thelma Brookins of Piscataway, NJ; two uncles, Donald McGhee (Janice) of Washington, DC and John D. Casey of Miami, FL; great-aunt, Curlean Jones, Ozark, AL; god-sisters, Brenda Screws and LaTonya Edgar; two god-daughters, Sheriese Scott Johnson and Tennille Banner; special friends, Victoria Guster-Hines, Debra Guster, Don Brown, Archie Dale and Randall Rivers and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Casey, Sr.; one brother, Charles W. Casey; one sister, Vivian Casey; grandparents, Rev. L.F. (Rosie) Casey and Richard (Alma) McGhee. The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant Healthcare, the Buena Vista Police and Emergency Medical Teams, Alonzo Betts and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Johnson Street, Saginaw, MI 48607 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rodrick A. Smith will officiate with interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
