Mrs. Albertha Marie Jamerson

Mrs. Albertha Marie Jamerson went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 91 years. She was born February 7, 1926 in Miami, Florida to Nevelle and Marie (Thompson) Moss. She was married to Kinnie L. Jamerson, Sr. Mrs. Jamerson accepted the Lord at an early age and was a faithful past member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and worked with the after school program for many years. She then joined Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Rodrick Smith until her health failed. Mrs. Jamerson worked for the Saginaw Board of Education as a teacher’s aide and also at the Saginaw County Jail. She was very active with her community and Saginaw High School back in the day. “Mrs. J. and Mr. J.” as they were fondly called, worked with the Saginaw High School Parents on Patrol and Football Parents Scholarship Committees for many years. Mrs. Jamerson was also a past board member, Vice President of the PTSA, Saginaw Human Planning Committee, financial treasurer for SHS Football Scholarship, past Vice President of Region G Board of Managers for State PTSA. Mr. and Mrs. Jamerson received various awards which included, Lifetime Members of PTSA, Saginaw High School Distinguished Service Awards, Football and Wrestling Service Awards, Saginaw Neighborhood, Inc. Awards and many more. Mrs. Jamerson received a BSW Degree from Saginaw Valley State University and an Associate Degree from Delta College. She loved helping not only her family and friends but her community as well. She was definitely known for her kind but truthful nature. She loved having family around, reading and cooking (especially, pigeon peas and rice). Mrs. Jamerson leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Isaac (Linda) Barrantine, Sr., Chicago, IL, Derrick (Cristin) Levelston, Ft. Pierce, FL and Kinnie L. Jamerson, Jr., Oakland, CA; daughter, Nola M. Levelston, Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Darrell Vann, Saginaw, MI, LaShaun Thomas, Louisville, KY, Josan Levelston, Killeen, TX, Nola Jamerson, Greenville, SC, Keni Gee, Lawrenceville, VA, Jordan Jason, Frankfurt, Germany, Isaac Barrantine, Jr.,Chicago, IL and Grace Levelston, Ft. Pierce, FL; great-grandchildren, Robert Garcia, Deonte Hines, Champayne Johnson-Wells, Tevion Vann, Dontrell Vann, Mykeshia Thomas and Trenton Jamerson; special nephew, Charles Lane; special adopted son, Cleo Haulcy; special niece, Salenda Bowe; special adopted daughters, Michelle Simpson, Betty Murray, Elaine Simpson, Exie Robinson, Patrice Bouleware and Kyla Simpson; a special group of ladies called The “T’s”; also numerous great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends including longtime friends, Mrs. Bobbie Wingard, Mrs. Lucinda London, Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Darlene Carpenter, Mrs. Nadine Harrison and many others that have gone on to be with the Lord. Mrs. Albertha Jamerson was preceded in death by her parents, Nevelle and Marie Moss; husband, Kinnie L. Jamerson, Sr.; sisters, Adwilda Bowe and Gladys Harnden; daughter, Barbara Vann Harris; granddaughter, Sharon Vann and many other relatives. Mrs. Jamerson’s family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Roderick Smith and the Zion Missionary Baptist Church family for the prayers and support during this time, also thank you to the staff at Covenant Healthcare 6th & 3rd floors and Health Source Wheels Unit, especially nurse LaKisha and nurse’s aide Angela. The family would also like to thank all of our family, friends and acquaintances who kept our mother lifted up to God in prayer. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Johnson Street, Saginaw, MI. Pastor Rodrick Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI Thursday from 2:00 until 8: 00 p.m.
