Mr. Alfred "Hound Dog" Nelson

Mr. Alfred “Hound Dog” Nelson was the youngest of 14 children born to Milton and Julia Nelson in Columbus, Georgia on November 12, 1931. He was the last of his siblings to depart this life. He passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Alfred received recognition and many awards from the Malleable Iron Plant, General Motors Corp. He retired with 39 years of dedicated service. He had strong work ethics, worked hard for what he had, and was very involved in the community. “Hound Dog” was a member of the Soul Survivors MC Club for 43 years, served as a loyal president of the chapter for 12 years. Mr. Nelson’s passion was working, spending time with his family, club members, and his motorcycles. He was an achiever, a pacesetter and was devoted to expressing sympathy to people in the community during times of bereavement. Alfred enjoyed traveling, helping friends and spending time with his daughters. Alfred married Arnetha Nelson on September 19, 1998. She preceded him in death. Alfred leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Mia Nichole Neely, Aakira Elaine Neely and Kendaja Nelson; five grandchildren, Jhanaya Neely, Chasside Green, Dellvon DeGroat, Bryson Sledge and Ayden Neely all of Atlanta, GA; great-niece, Latasha McCray; god-son, Billy Ware; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, joe Thompson, Marie (grant) Crockett, Lesa Betts, Linda Nelson, Althea and Gilly Anderson and Kwanna Mathis. Mr. Nelson was also preceded in death by 13 siblings, Carrie Reese, Virginia Reese, Georgia Pace, Bessie Overtree, Amanda Wilson, Willie Kate Anderson, Hayward, Jerry, Andrew, Joe, Charlie, Milton and Johnny Nelson. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. M. Khetarpal, Sona Carruth, Covenant Healthcare, Dr.Willie F. Casey and his loving wife, Ida Casey. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2018 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Dr. Willie F. Casey will officiate with interment in Foerst Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
