Mrs. Alice (Goodman) Winfrey

Mrs. Alice Goodman Winfrey was born November 30, 1924 in Bigbee Valley, Mississippi the daughter of Queen Parker and Mitchell Jones. Mrs. Goodman Winfrey passed away May 11, 2019 at the age of 94 years. Mrs. Goodman Winfrey was a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church. She was blessed with the gift to sing, she loved to sing and enjoyed singing in the choir. Sis. Winfrey served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Mother’s Board. She also enjoyed watching wrestling. Mrs. Winfrey leaves to cherish many precious memories four daughters, L. Mae Studivent, Sue Willie Macon, Marilyn Goodman, all of Saginaw, MI and Gwen Goodman, Fort Wayne, IN; 19 grandchildren, Gregory (Michele) Fifer, Arlondo McKinney , Derrick McKinney, Priscilla Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Jr., Katrina Davis, Andre Walton, Antonio Anderson, Dean Anderson, Jawaun Calhoun, Shanell (Clifford) Calhoun, Latoya (Berry) Young, Anthony Hill, Cureatha Davis, Tanya Davis, Bennie Goodman, Jr. Tracy Harris, Trenell Smith and Arice Smith; 75 great-grandchildren; 57 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Willie A. Presley, Dora Cayton and Betty (Winston) Scott; one brother David Rainey, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Lizzie Anderson, Johnetta Sanders, Erthelene Jackson and god-sons, David and Greg Taylor. Mrs. Goodman Winfrey was preceded in death by her mother, Queen Spinks; father, Mitchell Jones; two sons, Samuel Davis and Bennie Goodman; one daughter, Yvonne Goodman; two grandsons, Dennis Johnson and Melvin Calhoun, Jr.; three brothers, William, John and Curtis Jones; one sister, Ida Bradley. The family would like to express special thanks to A & D Home Health Service, Hoyt Health Service & Rehab Center, Deacon’s Board of Truevine and Truevine Missionary Baptist Church family. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, 2930 Janes Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Paul E. Broaddus will officiate with interment in Buena Vista Cemetery, 612 South Airport Road, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to greet friends.
