Alonzo "Pee Wee" Wrenn, Jr.

Mr. Alonzo Wrenn, Jr. departed this earthly life for his heavenly reward on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the age of 85 years. He was born August 23, 1928 in Clarksville, TX, the son of Eunice Olivia (Mitchell) and Alonzo Wrenn, Sr. Mr. Wrenn was a faithful member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church for over 70 years, where he served on the Usher Board, sang in the Male Chorus and was a proud member of the Men of Bethel until his ailing health prevented him from serving. He was a graduate of Saginaw High School Class of 1944. He was employed at the General Motors Grey Iron Foundry, retiring after more than 40 years of service. Mr. Wrenn was a member of The Investor’s Club. He proudly spent quality time with young men, taking them to Detroit Tiger games, which were memorable experiences for his son, grandson, nephews and their friends. Mr. Wrenn was a true family man. He showed us all the love he had for his wife of 65 years. They had the opportunity to help others and they did just that. They were inseparable and always had been the example of true love, respect and family. Mr. Wrenn leaves behind to cherish precious memories, his devoted wife, Dorothy Louise Wrenn; one son, Alonzo (Diane) Wrenn III; five grandchildren, Cojunna (Frank) Sutton of Pontiac, MI, Katoya (Marcus) Porter of Saginaw, MI, Alonzo McCarroll of Saginaw, MI; Courtney Wrenn of Kalamazoo, MI and Ernest Payton of Saginaw, MI; five great-grandchildren, Darrick, Dequarius, Mya, India and Frank, Jr.; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Angeline Harris; one brother, Johnnie Sharper; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Bond and Fannie Mae Bond; and many other relatives and friends, including special friends, James Brewer and Willie Bandy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy (Wrenn) Myles; grandson, Willie Ware III; parents, Eunice Olivia and Alonzo Wrenn, Sr.; and a stepbrother, Frank Sharper. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
