Mr. Andre Evans

Master Andre De. L. Evans beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, godfather, friend to many and World Traveler. Started his journey of life on July 30, 1965 born to Thomas and Diane Evans. He was known for his infectious laugh, loving heart, willingness to help anyone he could and his adventures around the world. Andre accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at early age. He began his spiritual journey with his grandmother Emma B. Davis at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. He considered his grandmothers Emma B. Davis and Ella Mae Corley major influences and jewels in life. Andre attended Saginaw Public Schools graduating from Saginaw High School “Class of 1983”. He was in the top 10 of his graduating class. He was very active in different school activities from the swim team, tennis team and drama team often being considered the life of the party. He enjoyed hanging with cousins and friends often spending time hosting in the basement at his parents’ home where the fun never stopped. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. from 1983-1987. During this time of service, he found his love for Africa and knew this would be his home. Andre then worked for the US Embassy in Kenya after his time served. Andre returned to the US to help care for his father in 1990-1992 working briefly for UPS, he then went on to work for Dow Chemical and Hemlock Semiconductor for 13 years as a Lab Technician. Also, during this time he joined Victorious Believers Ministries Church of God in Christ under the leadership of his spiritual parents & mentor the late Bishop Marvin C. Pryor and Evangelist Ruth C. Pryor. He later led his mother and sister back to Christ. He begin to flourish in his walk with the Lord. Andre wore many hats and was involved in many different aspects of the ministry including; Armor-Bearer for Bishop & Mother Pryor, Usher Board, Chairman of Jr. Ushers Board, Mentor for Boys to Victorious Men, Sergeant for VBM Commandoes Drill Team, Teacher for Vacation Bible School, Dance Team and a singer in his own right being apart of Echoes of Praise just to name a few. Andre was dedicated in all he did and wanted to make sure he contributed to the vision of his leader selling his savory pinned tacos and many other different fundraisers to help with the upbuilding of the church. Serving the Lord and the Ministry is all he wanted to do. He worked for Saginaw News, often helping family members and friends with employment while working there. Andre looked out for everyone he loved.Inspired by many Andre finally begin to pursue his dream of being an educator, graduating from Saginaw Valley State University with his Bachelor Degree in Education. He then became a part of Teach for America Program in Washington DC at Howard University earning his Masters Degree in Education. Andre then relocated to Houston, Texas to teach for Houston’s 5th District. He served one year at each school and became Teacher of the Year! In 2015 Andre was able to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in support of Trek for Teachers in support of the Varkey Foundation Teacher Training Programme in Uganda. He was honored to be guest speaker for Howard University Teach for America graduating class. Andre received a call to become a teacher in Sports City, Dubai for 4.5 years at GEMS Bradenton Preparatory Academy and this is what continued his journey traveling around the world. He went to China to teach for 8 months but his destiny was to return to Africa. He begun his search for job offers. He left for Africa in 2017 teaching for several schools to include his last school George Washington, London Academy G.S.D.M. and Casablanca America School. He took pride in the Annual Science Fairs where he was able to engage students with his great technique of teaching and enthusiastic attitude. When Andre returned to the states, he became a member of Christ Image Community Church under the leadership of his great friend Pastor Eugene & Melissa Burton and when he came to the states that was the place to be. Andre was loved by many and was known for intriguing conversation, food connoisseur and entertaining. He loved cooking, music, taking pictures and sharing his life with the world! He wanted to see everyone living their best life and pursuing their dreams as he was finally living out his own. Andre leaves to cherish his beloved mother, Diane Evans; sister, Nova Evans; niece, Paries (Terrance) Myles; nephew, Zechariah “TJ” Evans; great nephews, Elijah Hairston, Jayce and Zaiden Evans; great niece, Gabrielle Hairston; special god-son, Darnell Dunnaway; god-daughter, Shayla Holloway; very special cousins, Antoinette, Amber Martin, Devon Ware; aunts, Janice Ruffin, Brenda Davis-Sherley, Bobbie (Gene) Matthews and Lou Dean Moultrie; uncle, Paul McKay, aunts, uncles and cousins, all of Buffalo, New York; cousins, Regina Phillip, Trevis Ruffin, Dietrick Davis, LaTanya Davis, Johnnie Davis, Jr., Monica Davis, Willie Davis, Jr., Brandon Ruffin, Demond McKinney, Mitchell Holden, Nina , Janice, Geraldine and Cookie of Ohio; special friends, better known as his brothers and sisters, Njeri Olufunmilayo, Yolanda Holloway-Christmas, Lloyd Arnold, Larry Calhoun, Yvette (Lottie) Carpenter, Melanie Barnette, Eric Melville and Sharrie Williams-Crawford; A host of special mentors, he always cherished his science teacher, Mr. Leonard Porterfield, mother Isabella Calhoun, mother Ella Carter, Katie Jones, Darlene Carpenter, Missionary Linda Pryor, Deacon William Parker, Sidney Oliver, The Pryor, Huddleston, Melvin Cotton, Hopgood, Scott, Bell, Hodger, Zipporah Shropshire, James Khlaif and his Victorious Believers Ministries Families, Pastor Walker and Family of Chicago, IL; friends across the world, Mike, Heather, and Crystal, all of Dubai, Julius Kwao-Mitaka of Tokyo, Mohammed Oulghaci, Amine, Omir, Rene, Michelle, Angela and John Randolph, all of Africa and so many more that he held dear to his heart. Andre was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Evans; sister, Andrea Evans; grandparents, Emma B (Thomas), Davis, Ella Mae (Earl) Evans-Corley and Horse Oliver; uncles, Thomas (Ike) Davis, Jimmy Evans, Charles Ruffin, James Sherley and Donald Corley; aunts, Patricia (Willie) Ware and Elaine (Willie Earl) Davis; special cousins, Terry Peoples and Monte Davis; special friends; Darryl Graham and Syad Sattar of Dubai. The Evans Family would like to give a special thank you to all of Andre’s friends in Africa and Dubai who helped along the way. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C., 624 South Outer Driver, Saginaw, MI 48601. Supt. Christopher V. Pryor will officiate.
