Mrs. Angela Denise Brooks

Mrs. Angela Denise (Barnett) Brooks, age 65 passed away peacefully at her residence in Saginaw, Michigan on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Angela was born on September 23, 1956 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Charles and Bernice (Keahey) Barnett. Angela was born the sixth child of 11 children. She was affectionately known as the “Princess”. Angela accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and was a member of Victorious Believers Ministries in Saginaw, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Pryor. Angela graduated from Flint Northwestern High School in 1974 in Michigan and enjoyed working as a Candy Striper Volunteer at Hurley Medical Center. Angela moved to California and married the love of her life, Mr. Roosevelt Brooks, Jr. on August 1, 1975. To this union they added a son, Anthony and a daughter, Nicole. Angela enjoyed living in California and worked as an Administrative Assistant for a prestigious company. Angela moved to Saginaw, Michigan and became a faithful member of Candlelight Missionary Baptist Church, where she worked as a devoted church secretary for 18 years. Angela was a dedicated employee of with AT&T for 20 years. She was a 2005 graduate of Agape Faith Bible Training Center under the teachings of Dr. Rodriguez, and Reverend Eva Rodriguez. Angela was a published author of two books. She received an Associate Degree in Creative Writing, and was on the Dean’s List at Phoenix University where she specialized in writing screenplays. Some of her favorite pastimes were challenging word searches, crossword puzzles, and Bookworm. Angela loved her family who adored her, and she had a wonderful sense of humor. She had a passion for bargain shopping and traveling with a traveling group called, “Grannies Gone Wild”. Angela loved going on trips with her children, grandchildren and siblings. Angela was a peacemaker and always had a listening ear. She enjoyed watching mysteries and Me TV. Some of her favorites were Columbo, Little House on the Prairie, and Frazier. Angela really enjoyed watching sports. She was one of the greatest fans of the early ”Los Angeles Lakers” which changed over the years to the “Golden State Warriors”. Angela leaves to cherish precious memories, her loving children: son, Anthony (Johnita) Brooks and daughter, Nicole (Collen) Howard both of Saginaw, MI; granddaughters, Jazmin and Ja’el Brooks both of Saginaw, MI; grandson, Kevin (KJ) Zissler, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; eight siblings, Clifford (Pat) Barnett of Roswell, GA, Jacqueline Walker of Douglasville, GA, Deborah Jackson of Saginaw, MI, Russell Barnett, Dennis (Candence) Barnett all of Flint, MI, Toni (Eric) Peterson of DeWitt, MI, Teri (Jerome) Nelson of Flint, MI and Yvonne (Edward) Milton of Sterling Hts, MI; sisters-in-law, Shirley A. Barnett and Sandra Barnett both of Flint, MI; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Miranda) Brooks of Erie, PA, Tracy (Anita) Barbee of Fort Wayne, IN, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous special friends. Angela was grateful for her church families, Candlelight Missionary Baptist, Agape Faith Fellowship and Victorious Believers Ministries. Angela was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rosevelt Brooks, Jr; parents, Charles and Bernice (Keahey) Barnett; grandparents, Bennie and Mittie (Ross) Keahey; two brothers, Clyde and Stanely Barnett; Freddie B. Jackson; nephew, Darryl Jackson and many other beloved relatives. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Covenant Healthcare, St. Mary’s Hospital, Hospice and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Johnny Jackson will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m.
