Ms. Annie Rose Stephenson

Mrs. Annie Rose (Morris) Stephenson was born on August 28, 1929 in Greenville, Mississippi to Ceasar and Alberta (Jones) Morris. She passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the age of 89 years. At the age of 18, Annie Rose and her husband, DC Stephenson moved to Saginaw, Michigan in search of work and a better way of life. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Stephenson landed a job working as a nanny for Roland and Marianne Sargent and she later became the nanny for their children Margaret Keeler and Fran Sargent. She became a permanent family member of the Sargent family. As a young woman, Annie Rose knew the Lord and enjoyed sharing a message or a bible verse with anyone willing to listen. Her belief in God helped her to pioneer Calvary United Methodist Church. After Calvary dissolved, she became a member of Jefferson United Methodist Church then later moved to Ames United Methodist which was her final church home. Annie Rose also funded the ministry of many pastors and bishops around the Mid-Michigan area. Annie Rose Stephenson loved children and did not discriminate against anyone based on their race or disability. She was known as "the neighborhood candy lady.” Mrs. Stephenson leaves to cherish one brother, Johnnie Lee Morris; step-brother, Ceasar Morris, Jr.; step-sister, Wanda Morris; she has 15 nieces left to cherish her memory, Thelma Wyatt (William), MI; Gerlean Hymes, MS, Jacqueline Young, MS, Shirley Harvey, MI, Valerie Morris, MS, Mary Agustus, GA, Catherine Teague (Mel), GA, Linda Morris, MS, Gloria Banks, OH, JoAnn Jones (Ester), Diane Morris, MS, Susie Mae Morris, CA, Bonita Alexander (Henry), Trina Scott, MN and Earlie Morris, CA; six nephews, Jimmie Morris (Erma), Michael Morris (Gracie), Kenneth Morris, David Morris, Robert Louis Preston, Willie D. Morris, Jr. and Johnnie Morris; she leaves an abundance of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ceasar and Alberta Morris; two sisters, Lulla B. Campbell and Lucille Simmons; three brothers, Ceasar Morris, Jr., Willie D. Morris and Samuel Morris; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Morris, Leola Morris and Suzie Mae Morris; one niece, Pamela Morris; two nephews, Aaron Turner and Samuel Watkins; a few special friends, Ann Boatman, Mary Ann Simmons Sarah Whittington and Larry. The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Compassionate Care, A&D Health Care Pace and Mrs. Margaret Keeler. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at AMES United Methodist Church, 801 State Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Pastor Doug Mater will officiate with interment in Buena Vista Cemetery, 612 South Airport Road, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
