Mr. Arriel Strong

In God’s own time and way, and for his own purpose, Almighty God decided to take home Arriel Strong suddenly to rest in peace on Sunday, December 20, 2015. He was the 9th child born of 9 children to Hubert and Lillian Strong on September 22, 1954 in Saginaw MI. Arriel is being honored as a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He attended Saginaw Public Schools and later completed a certification as a Medical Assistant and a Phlebotomist working in Chicago, Illinois. Arriel was very active in his community of Chicago as a founder and the Executive Director of Parents Against Drugs. Since 1982, he has worked in youth diversion and drug rehabilitation programs, including New Day Youth Program, BRASS, and the Garfield Counseling Center. Arriel was always a thinker and wanted to share his opinion. He enjoyed life and family to the fullest. He had a genuine love for wanting to help others. Arriel was full of life, always played the body guard for his three daughters, nieces and nephews. He was our family warrior, he taught us how to fight and he fought for us. He also taught some of us how to get into and out of trouble (good or bad thing about that, was if we got a whopping, he got one too.) He was more of a brother, than an uncle for those who grew up with him. He taught those who grew up with him how to ride his, skateboard, sled and his skates so he could then charge them a fee to use it. Arriel’s spirit will be sadly missed by all. He leaves to cherish his memory; three daughters, Archia (Otis) Jackson II of Saginaw, MI, Temeka Bradley of Grand Blanc, MI and Ariele (Clyde) Hubbard of Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tavion Delgado of San Antonio, Texas, LaTia Jackson of Ypsilanti, MI, Otis Jackson III of Saginaw, MI, Talaysia Reed of Memphis, Tennessee, Isaac Reed, Dejon Hubbard and Ariana Hubbard, all of Davenport, Iowa; three great-grandchildren, Zayden & Za’Corey Musgrave of Memphis Tennessee and Tavion Delgado, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Leola Baldwin, Ethel Lindsay, Annie (James) Martin and Mary (Jimmie) Pritchett, all of Saginaw, MI; two brothers, Floyd Strong of Detroit, MI and Dock (Dr. Betty) Strong of Atlanta, Georgia; a special friend he loved as a brother, Larry Dottery of Ann Arbor, MI; and a special young man he raised as his son, Sylvester Todd Gordon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Strong was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two sisters, Mary Hubbard and Pecolia Mustapha. Family hour will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue with funeral service commencing at 12 noon. Pastor John Rincher will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Saturday 9 -12 noon.
