Mr. August Williams

Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, Mr. August Williams went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday July 14, 2026 at the age of 75 years. He was born August 5, 1950 in Saginaw, Michigan to Alexander and Ophelia (Jenkins-Gunn) Williams. August was baptized at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, Michigan at an early age. He attended Aurthur Hill Technical High School until 1968, then joined the United States Army at 18 years old and received an honorary discharge after serving four years. He was employed in the service industry as a driver for OIC and the Saginaw county Child Development Center. His last position of employment was with the Board of Education as a Maintenance Engineer until his retirement from Stone Elementary School in 2019. August favorite past times included shooting pool, bowling where he won three rings for bowling three prefect three hundred games. He was an avid card, domino and chess player. August was also considered as extraordinary cook. Mr. August Williams leaves five children to cherish his memory: Joyce Ann Williams, August Earl and Maurice Williams, all of Saginaw, Tracy (Vance D.) Martin, Sr., and Twauna Thompson, Saginaw: 19 grandchildren, Alonzo, LaToria and LaTonya Williams, Marquetta Butler, Tanisha, Arneisha, Destiny, Anthony, Aaliyah, Austin, Arianna, Madison, Chole and Amarianna Williams, Vance Martin, Jr., Pre’Tia Bowens, Elrease Johnson, Travis Nichlson, Jr., all of Saginaw, VanQreisha Martin, Kansas City, MO and Trudy Bowie McCleod; 18 great-grandchildren, Alonzo, Kei’Lan, Jaida, Jordain, Joi, Kamir, Kylee, Malia, Aiden, Makylo, Benicio, Maurice, Jr., Alana, Zy’Aire, Kaiden, Nuala, Mei’Lani and LaVeleh; sister, Sheila Williams Briggs Woods; special brother, Walter (Dorothy) Harris; 15 nieces and nephews, Rev. Chaplin Adrian (Carolyn) Mobley-Bowie, Sherry and Delfie Bowie, Rhonda Napier, Copathrion and Tony Welch, Eugene Wells, Rose (David) (Scarbough) Southworth, Vicky and Lisa Scarbough, Amar (Scarbough) Vanzante, Craig (Margie) Williams, Ondrea (John) Briggs, Dondale and Tinikie Williams, a host of great-nieces, nephews and other relatives including best friend of many years, Mary Weslendorf, Earle Ashley, Dennis and his renowned Dominoe Buddies. August was preceded in death by his wife of 21 years, Audrionne Garette Williams; two grandchildren, Vance Martin II and Maurice Williams; parents, Alexander and Ophelia Williams; siblings, Baby Raymond, Greta and Michael Scarbough, Shirley (Joe) Alexander and Loretta Bowie (Clarence) Jones, Hester and Crystal Williams; two nephews, John Webb, Jr. and Andre Williams; great-niece and nephew, Cheryl Bowie and James Williams; brother-in-law, Willie G. Woods. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Rev. Chaplin will officiate. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
