Mrs. Barbara J. Moore

Barbara Jean Moore, 72, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of God, peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by love. Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, Barbara has made New Orleans, Louisiana, her home for the past 46 years. In 1980, she relocated with her beloved husband, Smith Moore Jr., and built a life centered on faith, family, and community. A proud member of Second Nazarene Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Peter L. Crawford, Barbara lived a Spirit-led life, grounded in unwavering faith and a deep commitment to doing what was right. She was known for her strength, compassion, and quiet resilience, serving as a source of wisdom and guidance to all who knew her. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially supporting her beloved New Orleans Saints, and remained steadfast in both her faith and her love for her family. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Smith Moore Jr.; her mother, Minnie Pearl Reed; her children: bonus daughters Cassaundra Williams, Tonga Baniel (Frank), Katheryn Arlynn Presley, Tammy Presley, and Crystal Kirby; bonus son Smith Moore III; and her sons Donta Harris, Derrace Moore (Jarita), Willie Martin, Desmond Moore (Charla), and Jeremy Julien. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. She is also survived by her cherished siblings: Tangela Bradley (Allen), JoAnne Broaden (Anthony), Deirdra Ford (Charles), Kennith Lenoir (Tonya), and Chris Lenoir (Suncia). She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Willis; her bonus father, Willie Lenoir Jr.; and her siblings, James Willis and Raymond Wilson. Barbara's legacy of love, faith, and strength will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her. "Well done, good and faithful servant." Landry Ave., New Orleans, LA 70114 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., Gretna, LA 70056.
