Mr. Bennie Gene Goodman

Bennie Gene Goodman passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021at the age of 58 years. He was born February 14, 1963 in Blytheville, Arkansas, the son of Bennie Goodman, Sr and Ruth Williams. Bennie attended and graduated from Buena Vista High School. After graduating, he joined the Marines where he became a boxer and traveled the world. Bennie moved back home to Saginaw and attained a position as a head coach for Houghton Elementary School Basketball Team. This led to many other positions as he coached for many other elementary and middle schools. Bennie had the biggest of hearts, and loved his family and this shines through in his love for penning his emotions. He created a collection of poetry, which led him to eventually write a book. Bennie ended his life working and supporting his family and loved ones. His big beautiful smile could light the darkest of rooms, and he was always willing to help anyone in need. A real stand-up guy that touched so many hearts and would be hard to forget, always remembered and truly missed. Mr. Bennie Gene Goodman leaves to cherish his memory, his common law wife of 33 years, Shaundra “Nita” Henderson; five sons, Bennie Goodman III of Saginaw, MI, Deavion Thomas of Indiana, Keldrick Bryant of Texas, Travon Henderson of Flint, MI and Jaquan McKinley of Washington; three daughters, Tiana Goodman-Williams of Saginaw, Shaunte Tiggs of Indiana and Kiara Henderson of Flint, MI; two brothers, Ronald Baston Jr. and Willie Vann; one sister, Tracey Harris, all of Saginaw, MI; 14 grandchildren, a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; along with many adoptive brothers including, Steven Henderson, Juanarrow Gillard, Demetrius Canada, and Rapheal Henderson, adoptive sisters, Deirdra and Tajuan; and a stepfather, Ronald Baston. Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Goodman; mother, Ruth Baston; grandfather, Reverend Johnnie Goodman, and stepmother, Earnestine Goodman. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at New Birth Missionary Baptist Cathedral, 3121 Sheridan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Host Pastor, Bishop Larry Camel and Evangelist Gwendolyn Goodman will officiate. Visitation will take place Wednesday, from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. April 28, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607.
