Ms. Bernice Williams

“Precious jewel, you glow, you shine, reflecting, all the good things in the world” ~Maya Angelou~ Our beloved beautiful aunt and cousin, Bernice Williams passed way from this life on Friday, June 16, 2023 at age 68 years. Her life began on June 15, 1955. Bernice was the bright light that filled our lives with humor, hope and love. Ms. Williams was a faithful member of Mount Olive Institutional Baptist Church where she was an obedient servant to the Lord. She loved her church family and was very resolute. She was a member of the Usher Board, Wednesday Night Bible Study Group, Body and Soul Ministries, an active member of Kingdom Women and a resolute Sunday School Student. She volunteered her time wherever she was needed. Bernice will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her family along with a close-knit group of friends. She absolutely loved each of them, and if you knew her, you knew it. Bernice is survived by her loving niece, Rhonda Nichols of Flint, MI; her nephew, DeMarcus Williams, Saginaw, MI; great-nieces, Mayah Williams of Saginaw, MI, Purcessine Nichols, La’Quanta Nichols and Mai’LayKa Nichols, all of Flint, MI. Bernice is also survived by a host of loving cousins whom she was always close with and her loving significant other, Bennie Jones. She was always ensuring that she built a solid bridge connecting both her family trees that was the foundation for which she stood. Ms. Bernice Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Della Williams; two sisters, Carlene and Clara Mae Williams; one brother, John Nichols; maternal grandparents, Haskell and Clara Stoudamire Mathious; paternal grandparents, Lushion “Charlie” Williams and Mattie Woods Williams; nephew, Rashaan Williams; aunts and uncles, Sidney and Richard Mathious, Sr., Cordelia and Vernetta Mathious; other aunts and uncles in order of birth, Eunice Williams, Ruby Williams Pace, Barbara Williams Miller, Susie Williams, Nettie Williams Morrison, Eural Williams, Annie Bee Williams Ford, Sarah, Philander and Wyoming Williams. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 N.6th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday, from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m.
