Bessie Brewer

Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 810 Cathay Street, with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Rev. T.J. London, Pastor. Minister Trevis L. Ruffin will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the age of 78 years. Bessie Mae Brewer was born on March 12, 1934 in Florence, AL, the daughter of Jessie and Emma (Peters) Turner. Mrs. Brewer was retired from the Buena Vista School District. She had many hobbies, such as cooking, decorating and singing gospel music. She will be sadly missed. Her memory will be cherished by four daughters, Joyce West, Dorothy Thomas, Marilyn Ginn and Brycandes (Trevis) Ruffin; one son, William (Linda) Brewer; one stepson, Steward Thompson; 20 grandchildren, Terrance Brewer, Satara Cunningham, Bakari West, Tamika and Tiffany Brewer, Howard Thomas, Jr., Brycandes Shipman, Trevis (Sparkle) Ruffin of Saginaw, MI, Cordon (Martina) Ruffin of Ohio, Torrian Brewer of Saginaw, MI, Ciara Ruffin of Grand Rapids, MI, Bryson Ruffin, Cordaryl Ginn, Jacobi, Ashley, Nolan and Tyler Brewer of Saginaw, MI, William D. Brewer of Florida, William Brewer of Milwaukee, WI and special grandson and son, Shaure J. Brewer (Marisa Perez); 53 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Endia Louden, Jessie B. (Luther) Strong, Odessa (John) Mangum, Portland, OR, Betty Jo Turner and Beverly Turner, both of Lima, OH; eight brothers, Robert Turner, Portland, OR, Larry, Jessie, Lindsey, Dennis, Stanley, David and Richard Turner, all of Lima, OH; uncle, Ludie Turner; two sisters-in-law, Pearl (James) Wright and Earlene Anderson; three brothers-in-law, Bernard (Vivian) Brewer, James Brewer and Robert (Rosemary) Brewer; one Goddaughter, Romona Rankins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including a special friend and cousin, Nancy Doxie, and special friends, Pecola Thompson and Eula Davis. Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Franklin Brewer; daughter, Wanta Atkins; grandson, Diallo West; great-granddaughter, Lauren Ginn; and her parents, Jessie and Emma Turner.
