Mrs. Bettie Lou Montgomery

Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend made her transition on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the age of 93 years. Bettie Lou was born to Frank and Amanda (Edward) Dunham on February 28, 1926 in Selma, Alabama. Mrs. Bettie Lou (Dunham) Montgomery was a dedicated member of Greater Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Detroit, MI where she was the loyal wife of Trustee Verne Montgomery. She was a member of the Nurses Guild and served in other departments under the leadership of Pastor Maurice L. Rudds until her health started to fail. She was employed at a small factory in Detroit and retired in 1977. While in Detroit Mrs. Montgomery was a member of The Alabama Reunion Club. She enjoyed cooking, listening to music, playing cards and sharing a special bond with her sisters and brothers. She had a greater love for her grandchildren and enjoyed spending quality time with family. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Betty Jean (Albert) Coney, of Bridgeport, MI; two grandchildren, Norris Coney and Royce (Vincent) Turner; 10 great-grandchildren, Taniesha (Joe) Bowen, Tanielle (Keith) Cunningham, Taney, Imani, Tyrone, Dajia, MaKayla, Jayden, Jameron and Marcus, Jr.; six great-great-grandchildren, Aniya, Jameer, Kyleigh, MacKenzie, Messhia and Rakim; three sisters, Ethel Douglas, Massachusetts, Dorothy Johnson, Alabama and Sallie (Jerry) Rudolph, Georgia; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, Verne Montgomery; her parents, Frank and Amanda Dunham; grandson, Marcus C. Coney; two sisters, Lara Crumpton and Hattie Holt; six brothers, Frank, Melvin, Charles, Emanuel, Samuel and Malachi Dunham. The family of Mrs. Bettie Lou Montgomery would like to thank the staff of Healthsource for the care that was given to our love one: for all of your time and devotion. Her daughter, and grandson. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Pastor Maurice L. Rudds will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607 on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time.
