Ms. Betty Adams

Born, Betty Irene Cook on March 3, 1945 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of Nathaniel and Mary Ellen (Morris) Cook. She passed away on December 21, 2022 at the age of 77 years. She moved to Saginaw, Michigan in June of 1978. She began her Christian Walk at a very early age. She served on the Usher and Nursing Auxiliaries for many years at Zion Valley Church. Betty was a nurse at the VA Hospital and she graduated with honors with a degree in Sociology from Saginaw Valley State University. Mom loved her family and loved to cook and bake,(which she did very well). She loved to bowl, play bid whist, spades and bingo. She loved getting her hair and nails done and being well dressed for outings. Mom had six biological children but, she lovingly called four more hers; Sherita (Rickey) Cook-Freeman, James (Dianne) Cook, Phillip Cook, Tina (Christopher) Griffen, Stephen (Jackie) Adams, Lisa (O.C.) Anderson, Kenyetta Russell and Terry Marshall; siblings, Joyce (Everette) Toney and Sylvia Walker; grandchildren, Charita Mitchell, Tiffany Collier, Calvin Page, Jr., Latrice, Everette and DeShay Goodwine, Ebony Nelson, Christopher, James and Eric Griffen, Shade Henry, Stephen Adams, Jr., Derin Roy, Jordan Caldwell, Clarissa Adams, Adam Norfolk, Zachary, Cassie and Paris Mulligan, Kevin Adams, Jr. and Jacob Adams; a host of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, Tariq; nieces, nephews, cousins as well with the extended family of James Adams and Edward Marshall children and grandchildren alike whom she loved dearly, a few of them grew up under her care, Carl DeWayne Adams, Bear and TeeTee Marshall, other relatives and friends. Ms. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Cook, Sr. and Mary Ellen Morris Cook; son, Kevin Adams, Sr.; daughter, Denise Adams Williams; two grandchildren, Charles Mitchell, Jr. and Ashley Mulligan; brother, Nathaniel Cook, Jr.; daughter-in-love, Caroline Nelson. Special thanks to her god-mother, Mary Dunn whom she loved dearly and I want to thank her chore provider/caregiver, Tiesha Reynolds for being so patient and kind toward our mother. Betty’s favorite scriptures were: “Thou shalt love thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Secondly, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself”, the first 2 commandments. She also loved, Psalms 107:1, “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.” Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C., 624 S. Outer Dr., Saginaw, Michigan 48601 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Christopher Pryor officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of service.
