Ms. Brenda Hall

Sunrise July 12, 1950 Sunset January 27, 2021 Our beloved Brenda Dinnell Hall was born in Saginaw, Mi. into the union of Wendell Phillips and Janet Eloise Hall. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Linda Joyce Hall and her father and mother. In 1968, she graduated from Benton Harbor High School where she wrote for the school newspaper. After graduation, Brenda attended Lake Michigan College where she earned an associate degree in English. Brenda resided in Saginaw, Mi., Chicago, Il, and Indianapolis In. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. At age 16 years, Brenda was confirmed and baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan. For 35 years, she served as an Usher at Holy Angels Catholic Church and member of the Parish Council. She was installed as an Eucharistic Minister and served diligently at any and all church events especially the annual fish fry. Brenda worked for Whirlpool, Benton Harbor District Court as an Administrative Assistant, and a Librarian. Her Love and passion were modeling and dancing/steppin’. Brenda modeled for over 20+ years for Hamilton Unique Esquire Models of Chicago, il. She also modeled for Alpha Blackburn House of Models - Indianapolis, ln. She was the first Black model at LS Ayres Department Store with short hair. Brenda modeled hats and couture fashion. When she wasn’t modeling, she could be found working at her favorite Lounge “REDS” in Indianapolis, In. Brenda never met a stranger. She spoke to everyone with an open mind and heart. She was not afraid to ask for what she wanted. Brenda loved being outside and attending events such as Jazz in the park and on the canal. Washington Park (Chicago) was her favorite place on a Sunday afternoon in the summertime. That was her sanctuary to commune with God, people watch and write her poetry. Brenda Dinnell Hall leaves to cherish her memory; Daughter, Robney “Robbie”Hall, two Grandsons, Ryan “Quinn” (Chicago) and Jordan “Lil Big Head”, Brother- Brian Hall (St. Joseph),Alton Morris (Play Brother), Two sisters, Marie Gordon (Benton Harbor) and Connie Liggins (Indianapolis). Three nieces, one nephew- Christie (Ted) Hammer, Natalie Hall, Kim Liggins and Tony Liggins and DeJoiry Simmons (Honorary grandson). Special male cousins: Alfred McKenzie (Fred), Dennis Hall (Quake), Thelonious (Guinea Pig) Hall and Corky (Ohio); special female cousin: Georgette (Juicy) McFadden, Nancy Hall and Dana (Bumble Bee Jr.) McKenzie-Simmons, Stephanie Hall and Aunt Nell Jr. Special Aunties: Margaret Hall, Loraine Conley and Mavis Taylor; one uncle – James Hall (Ann Arbor) Special friends: Renee Cross (Indianapolis), Tonie and Sherman Nelson(Chicago), Jenny Meeks, Betty Jett (Kalamazoo, Mi), Roslyn Turner (Indianapolis, In.), Izena Hawkins and many, many other great friends and relatives. Her special spiritual friends: Father Bob (Chicago), Father Bruce and Sister Gail (Indianapolis). Special thank you to Mrs. Lambert and Fran Johnson and the Commodore Apt. family. Brown Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46202, with funeral service commencing at 12:00 noon. Interment Crown Hill Cemetery , Indianapolis, IN.
