Mrs. Callie Anna Frances Gladney

Mrs. Callie Anna Frances Gladney passed away quietly Saturday, October 26, 2024. God blessed this wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend with 88 years of life. Callie was born on April 8, 1936 to Larce (Isom) and Lillie Clae (Johnson) Mitchell in Kosciusko (Attala County), Mississippi. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age at Marble Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Growing up in Kosciusko, Callie attended Cook School. Callie later married Mr. Hazel Gladney on August 30, 1956 and moved to Saginaw, Michigan shortly afterward. From this union, they had six beautiful, loving and faithful children. Callie joined Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church in January 1964 and was a dedicated member. She retired from Saginaw Public Schools in 2009. Callie enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. Callie leaves behind to cherish her memory four children: Laura F. (Gresley) Smith, Evergreen, NC, Randy Gladney, Midland, MI, Maxine Gladney and Stacy A. (Eva M.) Gladney, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Leon M. Gladney, Bay City, MI, Brianna C. Gladney, Midland, MI, Olivia E., Alexandria C. (Daniel Castillo), Stacy A. Jr. and Salina V. Gladney, all of Saginaw; three great-grandchildren, Raymundo III and Raynesmae R. A. Delgado and Daniel Castillo, Jr. all of Saginaw; three sisters, Emma A. Woodard, Carthage, MS, Martha B. and Clara B. Mitchell both of Saginaw; four sisters-in-law, Pearlie Davis and Allie M. Harmon of Long Beach, CA, Ora Gladney, Kosciusko, MS and Willie Gladney, Tupelo, MS; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Callie Anna Frances Gladney was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hazel; parents, Larce and Lillie Mitchell; two daughters, Hazel Bell and Vicky Gladney; one grandchild, Willie Gladney; four sisters, Lillie C. Rayford, Callie Pearl Mitchell, Rosie C. McAdory and Louise Norman; three brothers, Larce Jr., David A. and Willie C. Mitchell. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 N. 6th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Rev. Joshua M. Daniels, Host Pastor. Pastor Marcelle T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
