Mr. Carl M. Buggs

Mr. Carl Maxwell Buggs passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the age of 72 years. He born August 9, 1943 in Winnfield, Louisiana the son of Clarence and Maxine Buggs. Carl was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, and joined Bethel AME where he was baptized. He entered the United States Air Force in September 1961, as an Aircraft Mechanic serving at Travis AFB in California and Sheppard AFB in Texas. On active duty Carl served in the Vietnam War and received the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Service and the Vietnam Service Medal. Carl was honorably discharged in September 1967. Carl was employed by General Motors at the Malleable Iron from 1972 until he retired in 1997. In his retirement years he was a sales representative for Oil Chem. Carl was pleasant, loving, good-hearted and giving person who loved his family and friends. He was a hard core sports fan who loved cooking, entertaining and yard work. Mr. Carl M. Buggs leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Marlyn J. Buggs of Saginaw, MI; two daughters, Brigitte (Leonard) Johnson of Stafford, VA and Denetrece Levette Barnes of Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren, Chandra D. Johnson, Danielle (Antoine) Gaines, both of Stafford, VA, LeAndra (Derek) Brown of Manhattan, NY and Jordan A. Barnes of Fort Wayne, IN; two great-grandchildren, DeAndre M. Johnson and Malachi M. Johnson, both of Stafford, VA; four sisters, Gwen (Walter) Dupree of Cerritos, CA, Carol Brown of Hayward, CA, Roslyn Peats of Lakewood, CA and Pamela Wyatt of Winnfield, LA; brother, Dorance (Leticia) Peats of Sacramento, CA; niece, Erica Brown of Oakland, CA; two nephews, Craig Dupree of Cerritos, CA and Quentin Peats of Winnfield, LA; two sisters-in-law, Jackie and Ann Strother, both of Saginaw, MI; three brothers-in-law, Clifton, Dearl Jr. and Guy Strother, all of Saginaw, MI; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Joe (Virginia) Winchester, Leo (Georgia) Hemphill, PHA (David) Ford, Arthur Richardson and Jeff (Brenda) Schaeding; god-daughters, Jacqueline Land and Betty Mitchell. Mr. Buggs was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maxine Buggs, brother, Michael E. Buggs; grandmother, Lula Peats; aunt Veagie Eppright; uncle Ed Peats and mother and father-in-law, Henrietta and Dearl Strother. The family would like to express special thanks to Heartland Home Healthcare, Dr. Kuligowski, Dr. Balcaeva, Dr. Kocheril, Dr. Arterbery, Covenant Health Care- Harrison and University of Michigan Health System. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. to greet friends
