Rev. Carroll Tatum Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

“God saw that he was getting weary, So he did what he knew was best, He came and stood beside him And whispered, “come and rest.” Pastor Emeritus Carroll Tatum was born to the late Carroll Sr. and Velva Tatum on September 16, 1930, in Banks, Arkansas. He departed this life on June 9, 2015 at Healthsource of Saginaw at the age of 84. Pastor Tatum was baptized by the late Rev. John B. Worthy. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of his son, Pastor Delwin C. Tatum Sr. Pastor Emeritus Tatum received his formal education in Banks, Arkansas. He received his Bachelor of Religious Education from the United Theological Seminary in Monroe, Louisiana. He received his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army in 1952, retired from General Motors Corporation after 30 years of service and retired as Pastor of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in 1989. Pastor Emeritus Tatum leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Willie Mae Tatum; his children, Pastor Delwin C. Tatum Sr. (Deshondus), Willa (Frank Jr.) Randle and Michelle Tatum; grandchildren, Delwin Jr., Key’ Era, Ky’Lisa Tatum, Karenia, NaKey’Da, LaBrandon Randle, Kinyeta, Keyona, Kandice and Kharlie Tatum and James Rhoden; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Akins, Alaya Tatum, Braylen-Moton-Randle and Channing Tatum; spiritual children, Rosa Woodhouse, Sam and Geraldine Mills; a host of god-children. His siblings, Pastor Curtis (Barbara) Tatum, Elder Larry (Betty) Tatum, Leon, Harold and Thelbert Tatum, Dorothy Gahagan, Travisteen Freeman and Erma Jean Menchan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Theodore R. (Mary) Jackson, Roosevelt Bright (Sandra) Clara Jackson, Carrie Jackson-Zackrie, Marguerite (Curtiss) Ector and Maple Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; Maedean Davis and brother James. “God saw the road was getting rough, The hills were hard to climb. So he gently closed his eyes And whispered “Peace be Thine’.” Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Wolverine State Baptist Headquarters, 615 S. Jefferson Ave. Rev. Delwin C. Tatum, Sr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 130 North 11th St., Monday, June 15, 2015 from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
