Ms. Cathy Louise Smith

On June 7, 1978 in Saginaw, Michigan, a princess was born. Cathy Louise Henderson the daughter of Pearl Hudspeth and Arthur Henderson. She passed away on August 12, 2022 at the age of 44 years. Cathy’s mother Pearl was her confidante, biggest cheerleader, and backbone of her support system. She was more than just her MOM, she was her “Best Friend”. Not a day went by where she did not miss her “Mom’s Love”. Cathy was a faithful, dedicated, serving member of the South 17th Street Church of Christ. She graduated from Heritage High School Class of 1997. She attended Ferris State University and studied Social Work. Her employment as a customer service representative included, Stone Trucking, Consumers Energy and Rev Transcription. She also served many years as President of the Carrollton Township Recreation Department. Cathy enjoyed sightseeing, movies, being by the water, attending concerts, drawing, watching wrestling and the ID Channel. She also had a love for the Disney character Minnie Mouse. Some of her favorite foods included her Aunt Jean’s Meatloaf, Auntie Stacey’s Mac/Cheese, her Mom’s desserts and she also loved The Rib Shack. She listened to all genres of music especially Motown and Rhythm and Blues. One of her favorite songs was “Just My Imagination” by the Temptations, however her favorite R&B artist was “R Kelly”. She also enjoyed spending quality time at Chuck-E- Cheese and Kokomo’s with family. She also had a fondness for Thanksgiving dinners with relatives. Never hesitating to lend a helping hand, Cathy was like a second mother to her younger siblings. Cathy was funny, outgoing, brave and had great leadership qualities, but the most important one she manifested, was “That of A Loving Mother”. Her greatest joy were her two sons, watching them grow from children to young men. She was an extremely proud, affectionate, caring “MOM”. There was “Nothing” she would not do for her sons. She was the true definition of “LOVE”. Cathy and Andre’ had a unique bond. Andre’ was more than just Cathy’s fiancé and companion, he was her helpmate, best friend, and also her “Protector”. HE was extremely proud to be the Provider of Countless years of “Love”. Margo Tyus was not only Cathy’s mentor and advisor; she was her encourager. Always cheerful and thoughtful. Cathy’s infectious smile warmed your heart and made you feel welcome. Cathy Louise leaves precious memories with her sons, DeVontre`and DeOntae` Tyus; fiancé, Andre’ Tyus; sister, LaKeshia Henderson; brothers, Matthew Hudspeth and Cory Henderson; special brother, Adrian Tyus; nephew, Jayden Akins; aunts, Norma Jean Hudspeth, Kim (Lathan) Wilson, Gloria Sims and Annette Lawson; uncles, Michael Coleman, Richard (Christine) Knuckles and Gregroy Hudspeth (who was also a father-figure); special cousin, Charles DyVonne Perry, many other relatives and friends including special friend like a sister, Latrice Reynolds; childhood friend, Virginia Basse, Ms. Gloria Haubenstricker, the Perry family, Granny Coleman, Stacey Leverson, Margo Tyus, The Carrollton Township Recreation family, many other loving cousins, loved ones and other friends. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl Hudspeth and Arthur Henderson; grandparents, William and Muriel Hudspeth; sisters, Armenta Riley and Katrina Henderson; uncle, Anthony Coleman and a special friend, Michael Huell. The family would like to express special thanks to Fresenius Dialysis Center, Dr. Claudia Zacharek, Nurse Practitioner, Wini Angi-Sisco, Sis. Todd Boone and family, Bro. and Sis. Cedric Townsel, the South 17th Street Church of Christ family and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home.
