Ms. Cheri Lynn Lockwood

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, daughter and sister, Cheri Lynn (McMillon) Lockwood on July 16, 2025. She returned to God at the age of 58 years. She was born in Saginaw, Michigan May 31, 1967, to Mr. T.J. McMillon, Sr. and Claudine (Martin) McMillon. While growing up, she was a member of Bethel AME Church in Saginaw, she attended Sunday school and sang with the HCH Choir. She and her sister Kimberly were also members of the Girl Scouts Troop. Cheri graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1985, attended Ferris State College then, Saginaw Valley State College where she pledged the Sigma Sweethearts Sorority alongside her sister Kimberly. In 1987 Cheri and Kimberly joined the United States Army. She served from 1987 to 1990 as a Fire Control Instrument Repairer and was Honorably discharged. During her service, she married Risharde Miguel Lockwood and from their union was born Natashua Micole Lockwood (Crosby) and Brittany Marie Lockwood, who reside in Virginia. In 2015 she became a loving and proud grandmother to Haden Miguel Crosby, who is better known as her “Moomie” and she’s his “Nani.” She was very devoted to her daughters and grandson. Since they reside in Virginia, she communicated with them every day, by phone, texts and Facetime and visited them for Holidays and birthdays. Cheri had resided in the Reston, Virginia area and was employed with Federal Express for about twenty years. In 2017 she decided to relocate back to Michigan coming to Ann Arbor to be closer to her mother, with whom she resided. She was employed with EOTECH for eight years, where she continued to use her military experience in building Optic sites for the Department of Defense Weapontry. She was very dedicated to her job, had a good work ethic and was a valuable employee. Cheri was very neat and organized. She was also very particular about her appearance; she always maintained her signature short hair and wore jewelry. She preferred casual clothing, usually matching with some kind of graphic T shirt, whether long or short sleeve, jeans and typically her seemingly favorite tennis shoe, a pair of matching “Chuck Taylor’s”. Cheri was mostly a “homebody,” yet quite personable and was full of laughter. She mostly listened to gospel music. One of her favorite things to do since she was a kid was watching T.V. She was really into Super heroes, her favorite being Superman. She also really liked watching the Hallmark channel and developed a liking for playing video games. Cheri leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughters, Natashua (Benjamin) Lockwood, and Brittany Lockwood; her grandson, Haden Crosby, all of Virginia; her mother, Claudine Fife, Ann Arbor; sisters, Kimberly Ann Napoleon, Saginaw, Tracy Marie McMillon, Ann Arbor and Asha (Altino) McMillon-Kutekila, Virginia; brother, Taj (Rasheena) McMillon, Tennessee; god-sisters, Lorna Burke and Linda Suggs; aunts, Clairee Sanders, Rose Martin and Shirley Martin, all of Saginaw; uncles, Abel Martin, Jr. and Larry Martin; niece, Tikyra Napoleon, Lansing, cousins, Lisa McCray, Bridgeport, Eric Martin, Saginaw, Kimberly Westbrook, Tennessee, Camille Freeman, Georgia, Marquita Wells, Saginaw, Askia Sutton, Saginaw, Carol McMillon; special friend, Risharde (Yolanda) Lockwood, Washington D.C.; friend, Tracy Thompson, Virginia; co-worker, Dara Taylor, Ypsilanti and a host of other relatives and friends. Ms. Cheri Lynn Lockwood was preceded in death by her grandparents, Abel Sr. and Rosie Martin, Grant and Lillie McMillon; father, T. J. McMillon; step-father, Onzo Fife; brother, Timothy Jerome McMillon; nephew, Timothy Jerome McMillon Jr.; close uncles, Dan Martin, Roy Martin and Joel McMillon and many other relatives. Special Thanks to Trinity Health Hospital in Livonia, Michigan, Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit staff, as well as Pastors Donald and Teleah Phillips, Rev. Maymette Dolberry, Sylvia Webster all of Brown Chapel AME Church of Ypsilanti, Michigan and all others for your prayers, words of comfort and support in this time of bereavement. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 1111 N. 29th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Willie R. Hill, Jr. will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will have family hour from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
