Mr. Christopher Allen Crisp

Christopher Allen Crisp was born July 4, 1963 in Humboldt, Tennessee to James W. and Gloria (Johnson) Crisp. He passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the age of 55 years. Mr. Crisp was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and was a member of The Spiritual Israel Church and its Army where he was affectionately known as “Allen” and “The Bass Man” because of his skills in playing the bass. He was a member of the Sons of Grace, an acapella singing group within the church. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School "Class of 1981". After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1983 to 1986 as a Material Facilities Specialist. Before returning to Saginaw, he was a store manager for a pool supply chain in Virginia Beach, VA and Grand Rapids, MI. Allen’s hobbies were fishing, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Allen was a funny, serious, mellow and laid back, calm natured man and will be missed by all who knew him. Allen leaves to cherish his memory, two step-children, Shamika and Shanika Glass both of Grand Rapids, MI; his parents, Bishop Bobby and Elder Gloria Davis of Saginaw; sisters, Jacqueline (Ruben) Henderson of Grand Rapids, MI, Makiba Davis of Fort Wayne, IN, Rashida Davis of Romulus, MI, Tameka (Terry) Starks, Princess and Tania Jones all of Nashville, TN; brothers, Michael and Charles Crisp, Bobby (Tamantha) Davis of Saginaw, MI, James Crisp, Jr. of Jacksonville, NC, Gary Posey of Murfreesboro, TN and Keith Jones of Nashville, TN; god-daughter, Chaunta Tsegaye of Pontiac, MI; many aunts; many uncles; 11 nieces; 10 nephews; god-parents, Elder Delphine Mills of Detroit, MI, and Terry and Rosie Shepard of Saginaw, MI; god-brothers, Samuel and Willie Moore, Jr.; god-sisters; Theresa (Karl) Murphy, Charrise Craig and Danyelle Page; his companion of seven years, Ruby Washington of Saginaw. Christopher was preceded in death by his father, James W. Crisp. Sr.; grandparents, Minor and Cordellia Johnson, Paul Nelson and Lucille Kelly, Will and Katie Davis; niece, Michelle Crisp and former wife, Loretta Crisp. The family would like to express special thanks to cousin, registered nurse, Yolanda White of Covenant Healthcare and the NICU staff. Also the Spiritual Israel Church and Its Army: all states, especially the Saginaw Church family and Pastor, Elder Joseph Grace and Dorothy Grace. Family hour will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave.,Saginaw, MI 48607 with the funeral service commencing at 12:00 p.m. Elder Joseph Grace will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
