Mrs. Clara Delores Thomas

Mother Clara Delores Thomas transitioned into heaven to be with the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan at the age of 84 years. She was born July 5, 1935 in Paris, Kentucky. She had been a long-time faithful member of Grant Street Church of God in Christ since 1948. The church later became Williams Memorial C.O.G.I.C., which is now Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C. She has rendered 71 years of loyalty to her church. While at Williams Memorial C.O.G.I.C., she was appointed to the Mother’s Board by Bishop Marvin C. Pryor. Mother was the epitome of Matthew 5:16,” Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.” Because of the Light of the Lord which shined within her, she was qualified and appointed as the District Sunshine Band Leader of District #8. For many years she taught a multitude of young people the word of God through songs, learning and memorizing bible verses, and giving them the opportunity to do charity work within the community. She always prayed fervently for her Sunshine Band Children then, and never stopped; she was a prayer warrior for them all. She always had a smile on her face. She was always positive and encouraging, uplifting and enlightening, a joy and a pleasure to be around. She was also the first “Mother of the Year” at the Victorious Believers Ministries 2014 Pageant. She retired from Holly’s Landing and was also a Foster Grandparent within the Saginaw Public School District for more than 13 years. Mother Thomas leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Cecil Robinson, Saginaw, MI, Jacqueline Thread-gill, New Jersey, Shirlene (Sandy) Rozier, Saginaw, MI; two sons, Dwight (Tara) Thomas, Houston, TX and Arthur (Evette) Thomas., Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Callandra (Jerry) Lee, Quincy (TaMarya Mikiah) Thomas, DeAndrea (Nathan) Greer-Thomas, Maya Thomas, Andre Brown, Kalandice Thomas, Michaela Thomas, Marshon and Toni Whitley, Tricia Pruitt, Cheryl (Jonathan) Hardy, Tonya Rozier, DayQuan Robinson; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Woodford, De’Ontae Lee, De’Onqavis Lee, Sha’Tera McTillman, Serenity Brown and Andre’ Brown II; five-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Luyvonna (Richard) Wilson and Felicia Woodford; nephews, Felton Shelton and Steven (Linda) Woodford; goddaughter, Taswana Shelton; sister-in-law, Hazel Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Mother Clara Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Fleanor Thomas; son, Richard Thomas; grandson, Charles Thomas; mother, Martha Allen and a sister Anna Woodford and son-in-law, Charles Robinson II. The family of Mrs. Clara Thomas would like to express special thanks to Pastor Christopher and Lady Kenyatta Pryor, Mother Ruth Pryor and the VBM Nation. Also, to a special aunt, Ms. Hazel Irving, Chicago, IL; special cousin, Tyrone (Vicky) Rankin, Orlando, FL; special friends, Mother Margaret Broadus, Mother Lois Scott-Kelley, Mother Bessie Nash, Mother Cherry Roberson, Mrs. LaFrance Thomas, Mrs. Jessie Dawkins, Carlos and Gloria Garcia, James Carr, Mrs. Clark (Stone Elementary School) and her prayer partner, Ms. Deloris Baber. Special thanks to Ms. Gloria with meals on wheels who always went the extra mile in helping with her needs. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m.on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Victorious Believers Ministries C.O.G.I.C., 624 S. Outer Drive, Street, Saginaw, MI 48601, Pastor Christopher V. Pryor will officiate with interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday, from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. to greet friends.
