Mr. Clarence Leon Nowell

Mr. Clarence Leon Nowell was born on June 12, 1943 in Charleston, South Carolina the son of Mrs. Annie Mae Garth. He passed away on October 4, 2018 at the age of 75 years. Mr. Nowell was a graduate of Colleton High School in Walterboro, S.C., “Class of 1961.” He was a Charter Member of New Life Full Gospel Church 18 years ago. He received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army where he’d received a Bronze Star Medal with the “V” for Valor for heroism as a sergeant in Vietnam. Clarence retired from Saginaw Steering Gear GM and was a member of UAW Local 699. He loved spending time with his family, helping people out, and watching the Detroit Lions. He also enjoyed going to church every Sunday and Wednesday, listening to his oldies music and loved him a Cadillac. Clarence leaves to cherish many memories two daughters and three sons, Johnnie Mae Nowell (Clinton) Bonds, Kesa Williams, Korrey (Jennifer) Williams, Charles Bernard (Kiva) McKinney, Demarco (Setrina) Turner; 24 grandchildren, Botynna Jones, Bobby Nowell, Bryan Jones, Demarcus Draine, Arquisha Brown, DeQuentin Nowell, Armie Pearson, DeMetrius Lytle, Artavious Brown, Jamika Lytle, Taviaun Williams, Kole Williams, Shateria Staton, Trashaun Williams, Tristan Williams, Jaivonn Williams, Krislyn Williams, Sharenda Staton, Demarco Turner, Jr., Deonjai Lawery, Chyina Williams, Cedrick Williams, Jayden Willougby Turner and Mason Nails; 40 great-grandchildren; one step-son, Jermaine Askew; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ruby Choyce, Danya El-Amin, Darlene Jenkins and Asiyih Chambers. Mr. Nowell was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Annie Mae Garth; sister, Johnnie Mae Garth; three brothers, Anthony and Nathaniel Garth, and LeRoy Nowell; daughter, Tangela Nowell Banks. The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant Health-care, his church family who was very supportive, and Bishop Zachary Williamson. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at New Life Full Gospel Holy Temple, 1200 East Genesee, Saginaw, MI 48607 Bishop Zachary Williamson will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
