Mrs. Claudia Virginia Wright

Mrs. Claudia Virginia Wright at the age of 98 years quietly transitioned from this earthly life to Glory on Sunday morning, April, 16, 2017 at Samaritas Senior Living in Saginaw, MI, where she resided a little over one year. Claudia, the youngest of twelve children, was born April 6, 1919 in Hatchechubbee, Russell County, Alabama to James Eugene Biddle and Alberta (Chatters) Biddle. Claudia and her siblings grew up on the family farm in Hatchechubbee, where they all helped with tending the animals and the many crops grown on their land. The Biddle family worshipped at Friendship Baptist Church in Hatchechubbee where Claudia was active in Sunday school. She was baptized at age fifteen in a crystal clear river not far from the church. She was educated in the Russell County Training Schools. Claudia married Lucious Clark in February 1938 and they had one son, Lucious Jr. After moving to Columbus, GA in the early 1940’s, Claudia joined New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday school, served on the Ushers Board, Missionary Society and sang in the choir. In 1947 Claudia and her son moved to Saginaw, MI where shortly after arriving they joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was an active member at Mt. Olive until 1997 when she was led to join True Vine Baptist Church, where she worshipped as long as her health allowed. Claudia joined the Bright Star Chapter #22 Order of Eastern Stars in 1949, where she served as Worthy Matron of Emaranth Blue Star Court, Heroines of Jericho and Ladies of Knights. She also served as a member of Daughters of Sphinx and The Royal Ladies. Claudia traveled most of the United States attending conferences and other functions sponsored by the Eastern Star. Claudia was joined in matrimony with Lawrence C. Wright in 1968 and treasured their years together until his death in December of 1980. Claudia’s work experience included private duty and hospital work. She also provided many years of domestic and child care services for the Polasky, Roberson and Travis families, where a shared bond of respect and love developed, especially with the children, Wendy, Diane & Bill Polasky, Dr. Danielle Roberson Keyton, Duran Roberson, Tia and Tasha Travis. Loving memories are left to Liza Webb, Saginaw, MI, who was like a daughter; her daughter-in-law, Blanche Clark of Dallas, TX; dear nieces, Bertha Biddle Price, Detroit, MI, Lisa Williams, Austin, TX, and Louise Paschall, Manchester, GA; special newphew, Errick Williams of Atlanta, GA; caring friends, Pastor Dan and Doris Roberson, Lansing, MI; a host of other loving nieces and nephews from the first to the fourth generations; and many friends and other acquaintances. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings, John, Georgia Ann, Eugene, Annie Lee, Beretha, Gertrude, Lucille, Isabella and triplets, who died in infancy; her only child, Lucious Clark, Jr., Dallas, TX; and her husband, Lawrence C. Wright. Claudia's favorite scriptures were, Psalm 23:1 and Psalm 27:1. Her favorite hymn was "I Will Trust In The Lord". Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at TrueVine Missionary Baptist Church, 2930 Janes Street, Saginaw, MI 48601 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul E. Broaddus will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 on Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
