Ms. Cora Louise Nelson

Ms. Cora Louise Nelson was born June 28, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the proud parents of Geneva Nelson and Clarence Wren; She passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the age of 64 years. Cora “Pat” was a member of the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where she proudly served on the Mothers’ Board and as a nurse. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed braiding hair (and was very good at it) and she loved to cook and spend time with her family. She attended Saginaw High School and later worked as a lunch aide in Saginaw Public School District. Ms. Nelson leaves to cherish many memories, four children, Omar (Zulilah) Nelson, Canjatett (Eddie) Mayes, Demarcus Nelson and RonTavia Carethers; ten grandchildren, Walter McCall, Mar’Viana Nelson-Mayes, Zamariah McCall-Nelson, Jeane’Ae Mayes, Mar’Tavia, Eddie and D’Eeddie Mayes, Jania Mathious, CaiMeir Payton, Oniecion Nelson all of Saginaw; four brothers, Larry (Vicki) Nelson, Arlington, TX, Clarence Nelson, Saginaw, Mathew, Michael Wren, New Orleans, LA; six sisters, Joyce Wren, Yvonne Davis, Alice Faye, Delphine Wren, Pamela and Stephnie Wren-Johnson all of New Orleans, LA; god-mother and god-father, Maryann and John Nelson; god-children, Adriann Burns, DeJavena VaNlanham, Wayne Bonner, A’Shontee Sowell; many other relatives including special friends, Maryann Spiller, Evelyn Evans, Beverly McDaniel, Mary Nichols and LaDeidra Donald. Ms. Cora Louise Nelson was preceded in death by her parents, Geneva (AC) Jones, Clarence (Christine) Wren; one sister, Doris Bonner; three brothers, Eddie Cousin, Allen Gregory Jones, Clarence Wren, Jr.; god-son, Tori Smith; god-sister, Shavonne Moore. The family would like to express special thanks to House of Prayer and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2024 at House of Prayer Baptist Church, 2233 King Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Walter McCall, Sr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
