Ms. Corine Sylvester

Ms. Corine Sylvester was born July 15, 1936 to Magnolia James and John Brooks, Sr. in Bentonia, Mississippi. The Lord called her home on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 while a resident at the Samaritas Senior Living Facility. Ms. Corine was a retiree of Vlasic Pickle Factory after 25 years of service. She was a resident of the Davenport Manor prior to her illness in 2018. She loved spending time with family and friends. Corine enjoyed playing cards, watching football, and being very observant in all things. She accepted Christ at an early age. She read her bible and prayed daily until her health failed. She then was read to, and prayed for. She relinquished her sins and asked for forgiveness and looked forward to spending eternity with Christ. Ms. Sylvester was the mother of three sons whom she loved with all her heart, James (Dewey) Sylvester, Jamie Sylvester, they survive her, Willie Bell (Billy) preceded her in death. She also leaves many grandchildren, James Blunt, Cortez (Jackie) Rice, Pierre Davis, DeQuavious Johnson, Corey Wright, Cameron Bell, Asiana Stone “Nae Nae” and Marlisa Bell; great-grandchildren, Cortashia, Cortney, Calyn, Zaya, Za’Niya, Israel, Jessie, Aikeo, Mason and Pierre, Jr.; godson, Montrell Rice; sister, Betty Joyce Richardson, Mobile, AL; nieces and nephews, Mrs. Adrienne (Warren) Walls, Indianapolis, IN, Michelle (Anthony) Hayes, Birmingham, AL, John (LaToya) King, Gary, IN, Dennis King, Los Angeles, CA, Willie (Marie) Richardson III, Aldine, VA and Harry (Georgia) Sylvester; special cousins, Wilma (QT) McCullough, Los Angeles, CA and Barbara, Ruthie, Gloria Geralds, Kareem Moore, all of Saginaw Michigan, other relatives and special friends, Linda (Robert) Veasely, Gladys Rice, Lori Wright, Lucy McClain, Gregory Green, the Wright, Wilcoxon, Williams, and Rice families. Ms. Corine was also preceded in death by her parents, Magnolia James and John Brooks, Sr.; step-father, Mr. J.B. James; sister, Dorothy McElroy and one brother, John Brooks, Jr. Her sons, James (Dewey) and Jamie Sylvester, wish to thank all who visited and looked out for their mother in their absence. Family hour will take place 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Eugene Burton will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place 9:00 am until time of service.
