Mr. Curtiss Ector

Curtiss Ector was born July 3, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia at Grady Hospital, the son of the late Thelma McDonald the late Curtis Ponder. He departed this life on April 1, 2026 at the age of 83 years leaving behind a legacy of steadfast service, quiet strength and enduring devotion to his family. A proud veteran of the United State Air Force, Mr. Ector served his country with honor and carried the discipline and dedication of his miliary service throughout his life. Following his military service, Mr. Ector built a distinguished career as a skilled tradesman, earning his Journeyman card and dedicating thirty years of service to General Motors, form which he retired with distinction. His commitment to his craft and to his fellow workers stood as a testament to his character and work ethic. On December 25, 1966, Curtiss was united in Holy Matrimony with Margurite Ector and together they shared fifty-nine years of marriage-a union built on love, loyalty, and mutual devotion. He was a steadfast provider and the foundation of his family. Outside of his professional life, Mr. Ector was a man of particular passions. He was an avid automobile enthusiast, having owned more than thirty-five vehicles over the course of his lifetime. He found great peace and contentment in fishing, whether in the quite company of a friend or in the solitude of his own thoughts. He took meticulous pride in the care of his home and grounds, and could often be found tending his lawn with the same steady attention he brought to all things. In his leisure hours, he enjoyed classic black and white films, the long-running television program Matlock, and the tradition of old country western cinema. Curtiss Ector lived a life of purpose, principle, and quiet dignity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Marguerite Ector, Bridgeport, MI; son, Reginald Johnson; daughters, Denise Quarles of Atlanta, GA and Veronica Ector, Fredericksburg, VA; grandchildren, Terrance, Reandrea, Brianna, Airee (Destiny), Kennedy, Kendal, and Kalyne; great-grandchildren, Jayla, Isaac, Leah, Knovah, Areeya, Zuri, Cevyn, and Ariee Jr. He is also survived by his beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara Louise, Carrie Mae, Ted (Mary) and Maple Lee; niece, Tracie Ector; nephew, Eric (Dawn) Rankins; godchildren, Craig Tatum, Shedrick Faulk, Jcynthia Tory, and Marcus Brown; special friends, William Martin, Charles Taylor, Douglas Lane, and James Rhoden. Mr. Curtiss Ector was preceded in death by his parents, Thelma McDonald and Curtis Ponder; brother, Ernest Ector; daughter, Karen Ector; sister-in-law; Wilie Mae Tatum. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Craig Tatum will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
