Mr. David E. Jones

Mr. David E. Jones formerly of Sgainaw, was born on September 13, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan to David Sr., and Mamie A. Jones. He was a 1961 graduate of Saginaw High School after which he proudly served in the United States Air Force receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was hired into the Grey Iron Plant General Motors in 1966 and was a member of UAW Local 668. He then furthered his education at Delta College and in 1980 he became owner of a family motel business in Buena Vista Township, Michigan. He retired from GM Grey Iron in 1991 as a Millwright after 25 years of service. After Mr. Jones retirement he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he resided until his passing. In Las Vegas he was a member of Victory Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Robert E. Fowler. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball and football. He loved all types of music, especially jazz, playing cards and entertaining friends. David departed this life at his home on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the age of 79, with his family by his side. David leaves to cherish his wonderful memories, his wife of 42 ½ years, Mary V. Mallory Jones; three sons, Derrick (Denise) Jones, Portsmouth, VA, Dwayne (Vicky) Jones, Ypsilanti, MI and David Jones III, Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Jolene Dudley, Aurora, IL and Felissia (Lorrell) Thomas, Saginaw, MI; two brothers, Victor (Irene) Jones, Las Vegas, NV and Palis (Sandy) Whitley, Saginaw, MI; two sisters, Susan ( Charles) Walker and Karen (Don) Cope both of Saginaw; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one aunt, Christine Jones, Saginaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, distant family and very special friends, Collins Washington and Alton Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Sr. and Mamie A. Jones; two brothers, Ernest and Eugene Jones. Family hour 11:00 AM Friday, January 7, 2022 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM Rev. Alvin Dawson will officiate. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Mr. David Jones will be viewed during the family hour.
