The Obituary David Melvin Brown ”Dave Brown” In the early hours, during the breaking of the new day called June 17th, 2013, God chose to call upon the spirit of his son David Melvin Brown. There is no further need for work, labor, sickness, laughter or earthly cares. David’s work on this earth has been completed; and God says….. “It is good.” David was born Nov 16, 1933, in Jackson GA; the son of Charles Frank Brown &Tommie Kelly Brown. They later moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he and his brother grew up as children. David moved to Saginaw, Michigan in, 1945; where he attended Saginaw High School, and later met and married Barbara J. Brown (Hill). David completed two years of military service (1955-1957) in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, as a service to our United States Army. In 1950, David began a faithful 41 1/2 year career with General Motors. First, at GM’s Malleable Iron-Saginaw, MI, then the Chevrolet Parts Plant-Saginaw, MI. David retired as a plant supervisor from GM’s V8 Engine Plant- Flint, MI. in 1991. He also worked as a paraprofessional at Saginaw High School 1970-1977. David was an avid fisherman. Every fish could be caught. To prove it wasn’t luck, some were caught twice. Every fish knew his name and he had names for all of them. David was also a master on the barbecue grill. His legendary sauce shall remain under lock and key;………until current supplies are exhausted. “Finger Lickin’ Good!” David leaves behind many who will cherish the memory of his life. They include his wife, Barbara Brown, daughters, Faith Davette Lupoe, Tanya Feltson, Toiia Rukuni (M’bengo), Tyya Brown, sons, Michael Brown (Portia), and Monty Brown; thirteen grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. David also leaves a dear brother in-law, Sterling Hill, a loving sister in-law, Gearldine Anderson, as well as many dear family members, friends and associates including: Chuck Burley, Joel McMillan, James Ellis, Doug Demming, Fred Rhode. Others not mentioned are dearly loved, appreciated; and not forgotten. His entire life was spent in the dash…. November 16, 1933 - June 17, 2013. His life of 30,000 days…….. was spent pursuing happiness and satisfaction. We all knew him as our individual “Dave Brown;” and we are thankful for that which he has given; and for what remains in our hearts; as memories and blessings. Job well done Dave Brown; job well done! A voice, no longer; but a whistle that remains on the wings of the wind…….forever more! David was predeceased by his mother and father, his sons, David Jr. and Marvin V.C, his brother, Marvin, his grandson, Donte' and his great-grandson, Jeremiah. The sign of a good man – “One who can teach his children how to ride, how to work, how to love, and how to reason.” Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor James Lewis will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
